#DropTheCharges - Disgraceful this is even a discussion. Expressing dissent of violence, racism and corruption of our police departments is a civic duty and for it to be treated as a crime leans towards fascism and is an abuse of power that needs to be stopped. Please preserve democracy on the local level by dropping the charges immediately and show that everyone in the community has the right to protest!!

The events on Jan 6th showed white supremacy & anti-blackness are the foundation of policing. Compared to PHX protesters exercising their first amendment right to assemble against the oppressive & relentless violence of PHX Police who arrested hundreds! Now 3 children & a dozen people face felony street gang charges. There is no clearer evidence of how racist & anti-Black the whole system is. What steps have council members taken to show that Black Lives Matter to the City of PHX?#DroptheCharges

You can’t reform the Phoenix Police Department while that institution’s behavior supports anti-blackness. Hold the police accountable and reduce the harm they cause every day. Do not suppress the expression of first amendment rights. Demand that MCAO #Drop the Charges.

Phoenix police and MCAO enforce the city's agenda of anti-Black, white supremacist violence. They work together to surveil the community so they can target activists with false felony charges, all after a summer where judges dropped hundreds of their clearly trumped up cases. These are intimidation tactics being used by the city to protect white supremacy, all so you can continue to brutalize the community. #DroptheCharges

City council and the mayor are actively choosing to support anti-Blackness and white supremacy every day they continue to support the violent PPD. The most violent police in the nation are known to target activists with violence and MCAO is right behind to waste taxpayer money on false felony charges. This is your doing. You can choose at any time to end the harm you are causing by dropping all charges and holding yourselves accountable to the community you claim to represent. #DroptheCharges

On Jan 6th white supremacists in DC were escorted out of the Capitol by equally racist police and allowed to go home. Compare that to Phx protesters exercising their first amendment right to assemble against the oppressive and relentless violence of Phx Police. PPD arrested hundreds! Now, 3 children and a dozen people, who now face felony street gang charges. They could be sentenced to YEARS in prison. There is no clearer evidence of how racist and anti-Black the whole system is. #DroptheCharges

The protests aren’t the problem! The PPD are the problem. On Jan 6th white supremacists in DC to include "Jacob Angeli" were escorted out of the Capitol police and allowed to go home. Jacob also attended the rally at a hotel housing Rudy Giuliani here in downtown Phoenix. The PPD allowed Jacob and his followers to occupy the street infront of the hotel, there were no arrest. It is clear the PPD is set on silencing people appealing 4 black/brown lives not those looking to take over our country.

PPD has a long history of targeting and abusing people based on their political beliefs. They surveil and target Black and brown activists, hoping to silence them. Phoenix PD uses violent tactics to harm and oppress people who demand justice and an end to police brutality. Council members, you sit on the “Public Safety and Justice” sub committee, and yet you do NOTHING to defend Black lives from the most violent police force in the nation. Denounce PPD now and demand MCAO #DroptheCharges.

The violent Phoenix police arrested hundreds of people and kept them in close quarters all night with no masks, soap, sanitizer, or even water. That was all before they were transferred from a parking lot to the unsafe county jail. The city did it’s best to create a super spreader event and terrorized the community for charges that the city knew were false. None of this was necessary. You all have blood on your hands for defending white supremacy and harming the community. #DroptheCharges

The way the violent insurrection at the capital was handled last week compared to how peaceful Black Lives Matter protests were “policed” shows how deeply racist our police forces and criminal justice systems are. These charges being held by the Marcopa county district attorney’s office need to be dropped. Targeting peaceful protestors because they are black and letting violent protesters walk because they are hire shows How corrupt this system truly is.

As we saw with Officer Poulos' death threats against Mayor Gallego, the PSB and MCAO will ALWAYS side with PPD. And you all think we're imagining cruelty and overreach by police officers against Black folks? I'm completely dissatisfied that the PPD are beholden to no one, and that the council has stripped the CRB of any meaningful oversight. End political prosecutions of people who are advocating for changes to policing in this city, and drop the charges against BLM activists.

Phoenix Police Department and Maricopa County Community Office are undeniably corrupt. PPD is invested in silencing community voices calling to defund their violent agency and MCAO is colluding. We see this exemplified in inflated arrests of protesters and the countless cases where judges have refused to charge people based on police reports lacking probable cause. Then, MCAO brings the same charges to grand juries for indictment! Council, denounce PPD and demand MCAO #DroptheCharges

For speaking out, we've seen scores of innocent people harassed, physically harmed, and detained by a department more concerned with maintaining it's seat of unchecked power rather than adhering to it's oath of office and preserving justice. Not surprising considering their nightmarish record of police shootings. Lives hang in the balance as right wing extremists threaten to further destabilize this nation to preserve the power of privilege through prejudice. Shameful. End political prosecution.

Council members, you are complicit in creating a police state in the city you are supposed to serve. A police state where merely criticizing Phoenix PD gets people thrown in cages, assaulted, and murdered for expressing their first amendment rights. City Council must demand that MCAO #DroptheCharges!

If the Capitol Police can restrain themselves until the protesters violently entered the Capitol—and brutally killed of an officer—why did Phoenix PD continually escalate against non-violent BLM protesters? (And not against StoptheSteal protesters?) It is now undeniable—racial animus played a central role. The PPD’s animus, over-reaction, and subsequent arrests and jailings serve as enough punishment for these young protestors. The Subcommittee & Council should demand all charges be dismissed.
