2 Protest Update

PPD has a long history of targeting and abusing people based on their political beliefs. They surveil and target Black and brown activists to silence them. Phoenix PD uses violent tactics to harm and oppress people who demand justice and an end to police brutality. Council members, you sit on the “Public Safety and Justice” sub committee, yet you do NOTHING to defend Black lives from the most violent police force in the nation. Denounce PPD & demand MCAO #DroptheCharges #EndPoliticalProsecutions

It is unjust to sentence protestors to felonies. The right to assemble is protected by our constitution. It’s clear that is not what there charges are about. As citizens we have e right to assemble and be heard without the threat of being met with violence and legal strike back. I’m asking that you drop all charges for all protestors.

It is clear that the Mayor & City Council actively support Phoenix PD in using violent tactics and militarized weapons to silence Black organizers. Police only attack Black-led protests who were exercising their first amendment right to assemble against police murders. PPD attacked with tear gas, rubber bullets, and made over 300 arrests. Your job is to serve the people, instead you are complicit in harming, caging, and killing them. Denounce PPD and demand MCAO #DroptheCharges

Phoenix police and MCAO work hand in hand to enforce the city's agenda of anti-Black white supremacist violence. They work together to surveil the community so they can target activists with false felony charges, all after a summer where judges dropped hundreds of their clearly trumped up cases. These are intimidation tactics being used by the city to protect white supremacy, all so you can continue to brutalize the community. #DroptheCharges

The report is misleading and only focuses on a single day in march when we have been protesting and being harassed by Phoenix PD all year long. Release our neighbors. Drop all charges. They were peacefully protesting and safely exercising their first amendment rights. Phoenix PD maliciously targeted and charged them. Do something about our rabid police force.

Are you a white supremacist Garcia, Nowakowski, Pastor, Gaurdardo, Williams, & Waring? We know Sal is, but you all act like it too. If Black lives matter then every city council member and the Mayor must demand that the MCAO drop all charges against protestors who have been politically targeted by Phoenix PD! If you really care about safety and justice for the people you’re supposed to represent, then fight for the freedom of speech of Black and brown activists! Denounce PPD and #DroptheCharges!

PHX Police have a history of attacking and targeting POC and protestors. While racists from Arizona storm the Capitol and are escorted out by police safely, our community is wounded, beaten and arrested for exercising their first amendment rights. Years in prison for expressing their rights peacefully is a disgrace. #DroptheCharges

These protest updates are embarrassing and insulting. Council: do your job and stand in solidarity with the people you are meant to represent. Stop supporting one of the most violent police forces in the nation. Condemn PPD for attacking, arresting and killing Black folx! And then demand MCAO drop all of these inflated felony charges against Black Lives Matter protesters. #DroptheCharges

Phoenix PD uses violent tactics to harm and oppress people who demand justice and an end to police brutality. What are you doing to defend Black lives from the most violent police force in the nation?? Denounce PPD now and demand MCAO #DroptheCharges.

Less than 30 of the stampede of white supremacists/terrorists were arrested at the Capitol in D.C. compared to hundreds arrested at our BLM protests in Phoenix by PPD. While judges dropped many of the charges, there are still 15 people facing felony charges for fighting for Black lives. You all empower these cops to attack and kill Black folx, and encourage the political prosecution of protestors by MCAO. If Black Lives Matter to you, denounce PPD’s violence and demand MCAO drop the charges.

All across the country people are waking up to the reality that white supremacy and anti-blackness are the foundation of policing. What steps have any of you council members taken to show that Black Lives Matter to the City of Phoenix? You can either condemn the political prosecution of Black organizers and leaders and demand that charges be dropped or live with being remembered as the political puppets of white supremacists. Council members, blood is on your hands. #DroptheCharges

We don’t need a ‘protest update.’ The protests aren’t the problem! PPD and MCAO colluding to imprison protesters is the problem! Council members do your job and stand in solidarity with the people you are meant to represent. Stop supporting one of the most violent police forces in the nation. Condemn PPD for attacking, arresting and killing Black folx! And then demand MCAO drop all of these inflated felony charges against Black Lives Matter protesters. #DroptheCharges

Phoenix Police Department (PPD) and Maricopa County Community Office (MCAO) are totally corrupt. PPD is invested in silencing community voices calling to defund their violent agency and MCAO is colluding. We see this exemplified in inflated arrests of protesters and the countless cases where judges have refused to charge people based on police reports lacking probable cause. Then, MCAO brings the same charges to grand juries for indictment! Council, denounce PPD and demand MCAO #DroptheCharges

After witnessing the storming of the capitol on Jan 6th I'm disgusted that M.C. and PPD are perpetuating this racist narrative against peaceful protesters seeking racial and social justice. PPD arrested hundreds! Now many face felony street gang charges?! These street gang charges are applicable to the violent white mob gathered outside the elections office last year. There is no greater double-standard. #DroptheCharges

Council members, you are complicit in creating a police state in the city you are supposed to serve. A police state where merely criticizing Phoenix PD gets people thrown in cages, assaulted, and murdered for expressing their first amendment rights. City Council must demand that MCAO #DroptheCharges!
