City Council will call white supremacists who break into the County Recorder’s office “protestors” but when Black people demonstrate to say Black lives matter, Council labels them “rioters.” White extremists threaten human lives publicly, yet you think property damage justifies targeting and imprisoning Black and brown community members. Stop pretending this is about order when this is really about maintaining council’s racist policies.

City Council calls white supremacists who broke into the County Recorder’s office “protestors” yet when Black folks take to the streets to exclaim Black lives matter, Council labels them “rioters.” White extremists bring a guillotine to the State Capitol to intimidate Democratic officials, yet you think property damage justifies targeting and imprisoning Black and brown community members. Stop pretending this is about “law and order” when this is really about your racist beliefs. #DefundPhxPD

The Phx PD is already grossly OVER funded as it is to grant them anymore money on top of already mislabeling peaceful protesters who were attacked by the phx pd as rioters is not only disgraceful but a blatant display of disregard for the citizens of Phoenix. This money would be of better use if allocated anywhere else but the hands of these paid killers

Enough! PhoenixPD and MCAO have been the violent terrorists with their tRumped up charges and violent tactics against protesters. We have seen it all summer 2020 long. This money should go to the community and not to promote the violence that has gone overlooked as hundreds of protesters live with garbage charges. Phoenix PD and the MCAO need to be investigated! Put this money towards the Civilian Review Board! Vote NO. #DefundPhxPD

If Phoenix Police are reimbursed for their own violent and white-supremacist actions, it only permits this behavior to happen again. Unacceptable.

The City of Phoenix is voting on whether to grant nearly $7M to the Phoenix police department (one of the most violent and deadly in the nation) in response to the summer uprisings. This is entirely backwards. The uprisings denounced the murderous anti-Black military police state as it exists in America. The next step forward can not include handing over more funds to police for any purpose. You must not continue to support the PPD. #DefundPhxPD

City Council presents a $7 million dollar knee to the neck if they vote yes. This is a blatant reward to violent, anti-black, white supremacist behavior. That is fully unacceptable. Non-violent protesters lay on asphalt for 8:46 seconds. Racist police chose tear gas and rubber bullets. This behavior should not be compensated nor justified. This violence can not be endorsed. There is blood on your hands council, you approve and fund this violence. We demand City Council vote no.

Saying protests that are a response to living on stolen land in a white supremacist, anti-Black city are “riots” just shows Phx PD is still acting like the slave patrols they originated from. They kill Black and brown folks at disproportionate rates and when the community takes to the streets to boldly exclaim that Black lives matter, PPD hunts them down and drags them out of their cars to throw them in cages! City Council cannot continue to give PPD a blank check to brutalize. #DefundPhxPD

If any money is being shared or distributed it should go towards the medical bills of those who were attacked, beaten and gassed by the police. This agenda item is additional trauma and abuse to Phoenix residents who are trying to peacefully protest.

Every time you give Phx PD more money you display your anti-Blackness. The demand to defund the police has been clear since long before the summer of 2020, and it’s just a matter of time before those demanding it outnumber your supporters and we fill your seats with someone else. NO more money to Phx PD. Vote NO. #DefundPhxPD

Exactly who are the “rioters” in this $7 million for “response to riot activity?” Surely you mean white supremacists who threatened the life of Katie Hobbs, her family, and Adrian Fontes? Or white supremacists who brought a guillotine to the AZ state capitol and called for a civil war? No, it’s obvious that you mean to reinforce the FALSE narrative that people speaking out against police brutality are the dangerous “rioters.” Stop spinning these lies. Vote NO.

The BLM protests that took place in the summer 2020 are not riots! They were a constitutional protected right for the community to express it’s frustration for how the police treat the community. The additional funds on this agenda item are unnecessary! No money to the PHX PD. Vote No!

The Phoenix police department already gets money to prepare for protests, has had budget allocations for this for years and has military surplus equipment which is already overkill. This is a blatant attempt at double dipping to get additional funding because they know a budget increase would bring scrutiny. There are no funds available for the public, yet the tax payer is expected to pay again for something they have already paid for? Vote NO!!!

Phx PD is quite capable of continuing to murder with their existing $745 million. How about you give 7 million to help with legal fees for non-violent protestors facing political prosecution? Or 7 million could help end evictions, or provide housing and healthcare? Instead you reinforce false narratives about protestors against police brutality being “rioters” and “terrorists.” The only terror here is you, MCAO and Phx PD colluding in this white supremacist nonsense. No money to Phx PD. Vote NO.

Defund this unnecessary money now! Indigenous black and brown people are the victims. Also the fact that you label Black Lives Matter Protest as riots is ridiculous and white supremacy. Put this money somewhere useful.

AZ "public safety" agencies are NOT the victim here. The alleged $7 million in "damages" should not be taken seriously - you are calling protests "riots" on a whim so as to avoid any and all accountability for YOUR violence. Council must not entertain any idea of reimbursement or any other more money to police, especially on top of all the overtime and benefits they already claim. Defund now!

The audacity to label the Phx Black Lives Matter protests as “riots” when it was simply Black folks exercising their 1st ammendment rights to freedom of assembly. Do you know what a riot actually is? A bunch of white supremacists beating a police officer to death with a fire extinguisher because they are angry that their guy didn’t win. City Council, your anti-Black rhetoric is inciting white supremacist violence here and giving $7M to Phx PD will only stoke the fire more.
