Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 20-21 Fiscal year. Funding should be directed toward education and community programs for low income neighborhoods.
Please reconsider the excessive amount of funds for public safety and reallocate to programs that are in need such as community development and community enrichment.
The city of Phoenix needs more funding for alternatives for the community such as mental health services , proper housing, education, healthcare. Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

The city budget must contain proper funding ($3M) for the Civilian Review Board to ensure police oversight and accountability. Please fix this and bring it back on June 17th fully funded.
I strongly oppose the proposed increase of funds for the Phoenix police department. As the city ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians, increasing funds to the Phoenix police department is a gross misunderstanding of what our community needs. I ask that you redirect funds from the Phoenix police to education and health programs, which enrich and heal the community. We deserve programs and policies that invest in our community's health and well-being.
PPD budget needs to be altered. Without transparency there cannot be the necessary oversight that our city needs. Body Cams at all times for all officers. The footage from which needs to be publicly available after each shift. Prioritize transparency over militarization. Prioritize deescalation. Prioritize life. 2018 was a record year for OIS, 2019 showed improvement. Make that last. Also, make PPD uniforms white or some lighter shade. Think:"White Coat Effect"+black cant be comfortable in heat.
I ask the Phoenix City Council to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 that is currently allocated to the Phoenix Public Safety Department for the 20-21 fiscal year. Please redirect these funds to programs that work to educate and build our community. Please use those funds to increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment. These funds will be used better to make the Phoenix community a safer and better place for all of our citizens.

I am asking that the funds be redirected to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. These funds would be better directed towards mental health and wellness resources for the community instead of the phoenix police department.
I oppose the increased funding to the Phoenix Police Department. The Phoenix Police Department is extremely violent and negligent to the people, especially people of color, in our state. I demand a reform of our police department in Phoenix, which is why I oppose the planned increase in funding. Our state is grossly underfunded in education and the money should be allocated to reflect where our deficiencies lie as a state, not rewarding those who have abused their power and funding in the past.
I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.
I demand and immediate reduction in the Phx PD budget until work around trauma informed practices, cultural sensitivity, deescalation, community outreach, and implicit bias have been put into practice and implemented fully among the entire Phx PD. I advocate that more social workers, teachers, and community liaisons are hired to facilitate trainings for the entire Phx PD.
The City of Phoenix Police Department is statistically ranked one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 20-21 Fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Redirect funds for Phoenix police to programs that heal and educate our community. The city of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after school care, adequate and affordable housing, healthcare, employment opportunities, and sustainability and environmental programs.
During this pandemic and civil rights movement we should be investing in our marginalized communities.

Defund the police and fund the Civilian Review Board the fully asked $3 million. Defund the police and fund our community. Arizona’s education is one of the lowest in the country and we need to change that.

Please support funding the CRB under the 2020/2021 budget. I hope the events of the last wk have enlightened you to the necessity of the CRB. I support our PD and teach my children to respect them. However, the actions that killed George Floyd are not isolated - they occur everyday in the US. You have the power to fund the CRB to provide ind. oversight of the PD. Support this $3M funding. This doesn't undermine our support of our PD. It holds them accountable, as all gov agencies should be.

I support the significant defunding of the Police and transfer of the money to community services. Crime is the symptom not the cause.
