Relocate the money that would be funding the PHXPD to organizations and programs that will help heal our community. We’re still in a pandemic, this money should be going towards that, as well as things like education, art, environmental protection, and more. The police have been unnecessarily violent towards peaceful protestors. Defund the police.
I strongly oppose an increase in funding to the police force. Phoenix has one of the most violent and lethal police forces in the country in a state notorious for racial profiling. Existing police funds should be reallocated to training for diversity and de-escalation and the proposed increase in funds should be reallocated to programs that actually benefit the community, like education and public health.
I oppose the proposed $900M allocated to PPD. The money should be reallocated to help our fellow Phoenicians. Our state is slacking in public education, and these funds should do towards improving our education value. We need to fund education, mental health and healthcare programs, and implement other programs to promote growth and peace within our community.
Last year, despite hours of community members opposing the increase to Phoenix PD budget after being one of the deadliest police forces in the country, city council rewarded the PD with a budget increase. I urge you to not make the same mistake again. We need to fund Civilian Review Boards and programs that foster community and wellness. We have had enough with the overreach and abuse that has gone unchecked in the Phoenix Police Department. Defund the Phoenix PD.
As a social worker living and working in Phoenix, I urge the city to defund the Phoenix Police Department. These funds should be allocated to behavioral health and housing programs. If we take care of the basic needs of our citizens, there will be no need for a nearly million dollar budget for policing.
We need to stop funding law enforcement as if they’re a military force and invest in the community, starting with mental health and education initiatives that both us and (hopefully) officers can benefit from.
I vehemently oppose the proposed $994,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. To direct this amount of money to the police when it is so sorely needed to fund programs that support our communities is reprehensible. Especially during this worldwide pandemic, our communities need help, not an even more militarized police force. Phoenix could stand as a leader in this country, an example of a new way to move forward.
As a resident of Phoenix, Arizona a city with one of the countries highest police brutality rates I strongly oppose the funding of the Phoenix Police Department and believe it is in the public’s best interest to cut their budget in efforts to demilitarize the cities police force and reallocate the money to resources that better serve the community.
In 2018, Phoenix PD was THE most deadly police force in the nation (40 shootings, 25 deaths). Defund the police and allocate the money to community programs that would de-escalate the violence and benefit our city in the long run.
I strongly oppose increased funding for our police force. I would like to see it reallocated to support community outreach and improvement programs for disenfranchised communities.
As a member of the Phoenix community I have seen the violence and damage that the Police department has caused. I urge the city to diminish the unnecessary budget and resources going into the PD and instead funnel it into community care and support. Phoenix's education, healthcare, and environmental aid need the money and the city's attention more than the police.
As a democracy, we the people have the ability to vote on matters that are important to our community. The Phoenix police department MUST BE defunded. There are other ways Phoenix can utilize the money WE give to the city. As a tax payer, I want my money to be used towards schools, non profit organizations, or ANYTHING else besides the PHX Police. There were 40 deaths that are on the PHX polices’ hand and unfortunately, that’s 1 too many. We need change and we are URGING you to listen to us.
I strongly oppose these funding allocations for our police force. I would like to see it de-funded and community based programs and services receive that funding, instead.
As a Phoenix resident for the past 7 years, I am asking you to please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department. Please redirect funds to programs to heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.
I strong oppose the grossly large amount of money to militarize police. Please stop murdering Black and brown souls. Focus on proper training, deescalation skills and mental health first aid. Prioritize mental health treatment and trauma informed care for your officers. Discipline RACIST officers and DEFUND state funded MURDER.
I strongly oppose increased funding for our police force. I would like to see it de-funded in favor of community based programs and services that promote holistic community health.
Please do NOT continue to fund unfettered violence and subjugation of the law at the hands of police.
The US Constitution guarantees the right to due process and humane treatment to EVERYONE.
Re-allocate funds to community development programs, schools, local nonprofits. Allocate appropriate funding to the CRB and commit to implementing change: Require de-escalation; Ban chokeholds; Limit use of force. These measures are the bare minimum to ensure less violent policing.
I oppose phoenix police funding. Fund Civilian Review Boards, Training, and other services that will benefit the community.

I strongly oppose this additional funding to the Phoenix police department.
1. Fund a Police Civilian Review Board (CRB).
2. Provide implicit bias, deescalation tactics trainings immediately.
