The Phoenix Police Department is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians.

The city of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Defund the Phoenix Police Department and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

I vehemently oppose the proposed budget and demand, as a native Arizonian, that the budget be allocated to the communities in need. The police department should NOT be rewarded for inciting violence, fear tactics, & systematically oppressing an entire race of people. This has to end and it starts here. Be the change, take action.

I strongly oppose the $944 million allocated to Public Safety as this funds one of the most lethal police forces in the nation. With the recent death of Dion Johnson by Phoenix police, and the number of Black and Brown people who have died at the hands of police in recent years, it is unthinkable that this department be offered more resources to continue this violence and brutality. As a tax-paying citizen, I implore that these funds be allocated to educational and health services and programs.

I urge the council members to vote against this budget. I demand that the funds allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year are redirected to investments in mental health services, education, adequate housing, and healthcare. I demand that you defund the Phoenix Police Department and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community. We cannot continue to support the continual militarization and brutality of the PHX PD.

I oppose the funding of nearly 1 billion dollars to the Phoenix Police Department. There is No Accountability, No Transparency and Too many deaths!!!! Our communities are suffering and hurting!!! Our communities need education, support, and a system that is rebuilt for the people. A healthy community does not include police brutality.

I strongly oppose the increase in funding for the Phoenix Police Department and feel the funds should be moved to areas of our community developments that truly need it; like public health, education, and environmental endeavors. I want to know that my tax dollars are going towards positive advancements to our city that directly help the people who live here. There is no need for such a large amount for funds to go to an already powerful group that abuses power to harm out minority communities.

As a Phoenician, I have serious concerns about the lack of oversight on our increasingly violent police force. Meanwhile, the budget allocated towards important programs in Community Development and Community Enrichment is far too small in comparison. We need to allocate more funds towards Community Development as well as the Office of Accountability and Transparency. Body cam policy must also be improved. Please listen to your concerned and angry citizens. Thank you for reading.

I am strongly opposed to any increase in Phoenix PD's budget. Please reallocate these funds to support the vulnerable and marginalized members of our community who suffer at the hands of the police department.

I oppose the current budget and urge you to vote against it. The Phoenix police department is the deadliest in the nation and giving them more money will only make things worse. The police are not here to protect the community. Instead they spread terror and violence. Please defund the Phoenix police department and reallocate those funds to actually improve the community through mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, housing, healthcare, and employment services.

I strongly oppose the increased funding of the Phoenix Police Department. These funds are better spent on items that have a long lasting impact on the community and better serve everyone such as housing reform, education, healthcare and community programs.

As a Phoenix resident I strongly oppose increased funding to the Phoenix Police Department. The police force is aggressive and hyper-militant and does irreparable damage to communities. Funds should be allocated in areas that actually benefit communities: education, safe housing, healthcare, sustainability. Strongly consider what your residents are asking. The system is broken.

I strongly oppose increased funding for the Phoenix PD. These funds should go towards the community programs and organizations.

Put this money towards organizations and back into the community instead of rewarding unjust behavior from our current law enforcement.

As tax payer and resident of Phoenix, Arizona a city with one of the highest police brutality rates I strongly oppose the funding of $994,680,555 to Phoenix Police Department.

I oppose the proposed increase of funding to the PPD. The unrest in our city and nation is righteous and action must be taken to hold our police force accountable. We need to support community efforts, healthcare, education, or environmental programs instead of the Phoenix PD. They are well equipped as they are now and still have been proven dangerous to some extent. Please use these funds to contribute to other, more important matters.

Rewarding this unjust department with the expected amount of monetary support amidst a global pandemic is absolutely not the answer. We should be prioritizing aid and crisis management. A budget cut would mean these funds could be redirected to community-based models of safety, support, and prevention. Doing so is not only governing sustainably, but with a moral conscience. As a very concerned community member I strongly urge you to defund PHXPD. Our community is screaming for good governance.

I oppose the funding for the police department, they choose to unreasonably arrest and use unnecessary force on community members. These funds provide training for officers and they clearly have chosen not to follow protocol when they patrol the city. AZ was rated as having some of the most violent officers leading to more innocent civilians being incarcerated or dying. These funds should be distributed into public education, transportation, Healthcare, and mental health services.

I categorically oppose the increase to Phoenix PD’s budget. Funding should be put towards evidence based programs for the community that will have a positive impact on health, poverty, and reduce violence. I call for the immediate institution of a Police Civilian Review Board (CRB), and that Phoenix PD provide implicit bias, deescalation tactics trainings immediately. As a hardworking, tax paying citizen, I do not deserve to be afraid of my police force or afraid for my neighbors safety.

This budget is outrageous. The police do not need near one billion dollars to operate effectively. How can you justify the amount of money being proposed when so many people are out of work and haven’t received anything from unemployment or their stimulus checks? The police are terrorizing the people of Arizona and it needs to stop. The first step? Defund.

Please do not increase the police budget. Invest in our communities, schools and other important aspects of society that will make Phoenix a better place. The people in this city deserve better.
