I strongly oppose. I want funds allocated to necessary community support structures; like housing stability, education, access to health care, and food security. I do not believe these funds provide direct support to our communities, especially our most at-risk communities, when they are primarily allocated to the support of the Police Department.

I oppose the increased funding of the Phoenix Police Department. It has been made aware time and time again that our police department has incited violence to our community, especially our Black and Latinx communities. We should not encourage Phoenix PD to further increase their militarization and brutality by allocating these funds to them. Please consider reallocating the funds to areas of community development such as public health and education.

I oppose the budget because there is no reason such a large amount of tax dollars be used for the militarization of Phoenix police officers against communities of color. Instead, a large amount of funding should be allocated to civilian oversight of the Phoenix Police Department and reparations to the communities and victims of Phoenix police violence. When allocating funds for the 2020-2021 FY budget, funds should go to families dealing with the consequences of Covid-19.

As a concerned Phoenix resident, I strongly oppose the funds to be allocated to the Phoenix Police, and urge that funds be reallocated to a civilian review board.

Our police need training. They need updated equipment and technology. With more funding, Detectives will be able to resolve cases more quickly, and officers will be better trained to deal with challenging encounters. The answer is more funding for hiring enough individuals to improve efficiency, more training opportunities, to keep up with technology. With all the violence and destruction CURRENTLY happening I’m terrified to imagine a world without law enforcement.

Police have proven themselves dangerous to those peaceful and innocent. We need to support community efforts that instead build things up instead of tear them down through systemic racial violence that is inherent in there American policing system (and data supports within our State and City as well). It's imperative to support instead of destroy communities.

I strongly opposed the $994,680,555 for the public safety department. The Phoenix PD is already better equipped than our doctors and nurses, despite their job saving drastically more lives. I believe the resources should be redirect towards healthcare, education, and environmental programs.

As a Phoenix native, I strongly oppose the current proposed funding to the Phoenix PD. For WHAT? Isn't the community why you ran? I would like funding to go towards civic programs for the environment, education, the arts, homelessness, after-school programs, and more. This is the perfect opportunity for Phoenix to step down from its title as the most cases of police violence and create lasting, actual change that will better our community. DEFUND the police.

I urge you to defund the Phoenix police department. Redirect funds to materially support the Phoenix community in terms of education, teaching, a civilian oversight. The Phoenix police department is notoriously heinous and known for police brutality amongst Black and brown residents. We need change, and this is the best time to do so. Listen to your Phoenix residents, bring positive change to YOUR community. DEFUND Phoenix PD.

I am contacting you to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year, and instead increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and enrichment.

The city of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment.

I oppose the use of $944,680,555 to the Phoenix Police Department. Taxpayer money of that amount should at least be benefiting the taxpayer in some way. For example, community enrichment and development would be far more beneficial. Mental health services, education and after school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities to name a few.
Every 5 days, an Arizona officer shoots someone. (According to Arizona Republic, 2019). Why would we continue funding their weapons?

Please reduce the $994,000,000 allocated to the Phoenix Police Department. Phoenix PD is not demonstrating quantifiable changes regarding aggression. Reallocate these funds to mental health/trauma services (including PD as service recipients) and housing/shelter to lower the requirements for PD acting as security guards. Budget allocation for PD should be used for records release improvement and training for existing officers. Again, please consider how funds and PD workforce are being used.

I oppose the current budget and demand that funding be reallocated to community development and healthcare initiatives and reduced for public safety and the Phoenix police department. We need to reallocate funds where they are needed and understand that the Phoenix PD is the most lethal in the country.

Re-allocate the proposed $944,680,555 to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Instead, increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Phoenix needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health/trauma services, education/after-school care, housing, healthcare, & employment opportunities. Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create a safe community.

I strongly oppose increasing the Phoenix public safety budget to nearly $944 million. I support diverting those funds to community resources such as education, healthcare, and social services. Phoenix PD is among the most violent law enforcement in the country, yet does little to prevent crime and keep our city safe. Only stronger community programs and support systems can do that.

Fund community resources that would lower crime rates instead of funding for a police force that does more harm than good.

Please allocate more of the proposed money to community programs that will help give our disenfranchised youth the opportunities they deserve in life.

We should defund the Phoenix police department and redirect funds to programs that actually support the community. The phx police department is consistently ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. The funding should go to housing, education, employment opportunities, mental health services; the police are over funded and shouldn’t be allowed to spend money on riot gear when our nurses can’t even get ppe.

Opposed- almost $1 MILLION to police funding? Either provide stipulations for the police departments on how they spend the money on proactive trainings, reorganizing police training from beginning to end, or extra steps for protective measures when handling arrests, OR redistribute the budget to fund the safety of our community: running, accurate public transit, veteran affairs, rise of homelessness and little resources to provide, or even our public community centers.
