Please redirect the funding towards the health and safety of the citizens. This does not mean a stronger police force with riot gear, lethal rubber bullets, and tear gas. Put the money towards mental health support, school development/renovations, meticulous public sanitation, public trash cans to reduce littering, and parks - be it athletic, bike, skate, or child-intended. More psychological tests must be done on our force before they are released to serve and protect the public.

I strongly oppose nearly 1 billion in taxpayer money allocated to the Phoenix police department. If the goal is to reduce crime, then it would be far more effective to allocate most of that money to community development to tackle the underlying issues that lead to crime rather than spending it on punitive methods that disproportionately affect minority residents of our city.

Defund the police and find the community

I strongly oppose increased funding for the Phoenix Police Department. Funding should go towards supporting and improving our community, not towards those hurting it and imposing fear amongst us.

I wish for police funding to decrease, as the funds the police currently have is being used to purchase tactical equipment to further silence, oppress, and harm people of color.

I oppose the proposed $994,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. I request that money instead be reallocated to Civilian Oversight, community development, and social services. The Phoenix police department does not need to be expanded, it needs to have power removed from it and the money used in a way that is productive to the community and not used against it.

I do not approve of increasing funding for the Phoenix police department. This funding should be allocated to public schools and extracurricular programs for youth.

I believe there are many community programs and organizations that would benefit funding and NOT kill black people in the process. Defund the police.

I strongly oppose the use of nearly $1B of additional taxpayer funds to be allocated to the Phoenix police department. There are a multitude of far more pressing issues facing our city at the moment, none of which can be helped by the deadliest police force in our country getting more funds to mismanage and hire officers they are unequipped to train. It is disgraceful that this money is being proposed to go toward the PPD, and I strongly urge a vote of ‘oppose’.

I STRONGLY oppose this absurd amount of money to used to fund one of the most violent police forces in the nation. Please allocate these funds elsewhere in the community.

I am strongly opposed to any increase in Phoenix PD's budget. Please reallocate these funds to support the vulnerable and marginalized members of our community through education, mental health resources, healthcare, housing, trauma care, and employment services.

I am opposed to increased, unnecessary funding for the Phoenix PD. I support investing these funds toward other programs with a demonstrated positive record of supporting healthy communities.

I strongly oppose any increase of the Phoenix police department budget. Do not let the department continue to incite violence and brutality.

I do not want to see all the funding in this budget go toward policing. I want to see the community board overseeing the police well funded and with the ability to have a real say and sway over Phoenix PD. I want to see more funds available to the homeless and the hungry. I live in District 3 and these issues are critical and of importance to me!

I am opposed to the increased funding and militarization of the Phoenix Police Department. Instead, allocate more money towards community-based efforts that can protect our communities during this period of pandemic and recession.

I oppose the funding of nearly 1 billion dollars to the Phoenix Police Department. There is No Accountability, No Transparency and Too many deaths!!!! Our communities are suffering and hurting!!! Our communities need education, support, and a system that is rebuilt for the people. A healthy community does not include police brutality.

I strongly oppose the current budget and I strongly oppose an increase of the budget. I demand that we start providing more support towards community efforts and organizations outside of the police forces in order to prevent police brutality and violence in the future.

I strongly urge you to reconsider this allocation of funding of the police department given its record of abuse of power towards people of color--especially Black people.

I oppose additional funding for the Phoenix PD. There are many community programs/services that would benefit greatly from those funds.

I oppose the proposed budget of nearly $944k for the PPD and would ask that a portion of that be reallocated towards mental healthcare, housing and education initiatives. Without quantitative data proving that increased budgets somehow lower the number of deadly police altercations, I cannot support year over year increases to their budget.
