As a tax payer, I'm strongly against the increased funds towards the police department. And in light of the pandemic and the protests for social injustice, the last place where almost a billion dollars should be funded to, is the police. The money should be aimed towards education, transportation, infrastructure, and to eradicate systemic racism within our community.
I strongly oppose increasing funds to the Phoenix police. Please reallocate these funds to services that support our community, including our severely lacking education system
I strongly oppose the $944,680,555 allocated to "public safety". The Phoenix Police Department is ranked highest in the country for police killing civilians and has proven that they do not promote public safety. I urge you to reallocate these funds to resources and community alternatives such as mental health and trauma services, education, housing, and healthcare.
It's time we defund/de-weaponize the police and pour more resources and funds into our communities, specifically communities historically and systematically marginalized. I imagine a community protection force, overseen by a citizens board with power, who live and work among those they serve; who help build communities where wellness and healing are prioritized, basic needs are assessed and met and people are free and supported to share their girts/talents with each other and the community.
I strongly oppose the budget increase for the Phoenix PD. These funds should be redirected to find the CRB and into community enrichment initiatives that support community development, housing, healthcare, and education.
I strongly oppose the nearly 1 billion dollar budget allocated for the public safety department. It will benefit the community in the long run to invest in Equal Opportunity programs, the Parks dept, Public Housing and most of all Education. We are devastating the future of our youth and in particular our black youth who deserve more than what this budget is proposing.
Proper funding for our police is imperative to the safety of our community as well as the safety of the officers. We need more officers and we do not want to see a reduction to their budget.
The officers from the Desert Horizon Precinct have gone over and above for this community and our Community Action Officers have been outstanding!
I oppose increasing the funding of the Phoenix police department and suggest using the funds for the community instead since Phoenix PD are not held accountable for their violent actions. The funding should be directed to education, housing, public/general healthcare, mental healthcare, employment benefits, etc. do not increase funding the police department.
The Phoenix PD perpetrates brutality and murder against our community members. The budget used to fund the Phoenix PD for the 2020-2021 fiscal year should instead be directed towards the funds for community enrichment and community development. The police do not protect our community members; please fund the enrichment of our communities rather than continuing to put our community members in danger (especially black folks and people of color).
I vehemently oppose the proposed increase for the Phoenix PD, which has the highest rate of civilian deaths in the country. Due to the long history of extreme acts of violence committed against black individuals, I firmly believe that the proposed increase for the Phoenix PD should instead be invested in the community, especially those that have long suffered at the hands of the an over-militarized police force.
I oppose an increase in the Phoenix Police Department’s budget. I propose, instead of pouring more money into insufficient police training, a plan to restructure the training/ hiring process of police officers with the current budget in place.
I am a resident of Phoenix, AZ. And I do not stand by the distribution of tax payer money for these government programs. The money allotted to the PHX PD should be given to community affairs like youth clubs, medical aide, rent assistance, and much more, especially in light of the pandemic. Also, there should be $3 million given to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board. Our community is hurting and funneling money into the issue will not solve it.
I strongly oppose any increase in funding for the Phoenix police department. A portion of the proposed $944k should be reallocated towards social services that focus on mental health, housing and education initiatives. A police department that has completely failed to "serve and protect" its most vulnerable citizens should not get an increase in funding. Defunding and demilitarization of the police are crucial steps to ending police brutality, and this effort must be reflected in the budget.
I oppose increasing the police funding. There are so many overlooked and underfunded state organizations that are more worthy and in-need of a budget increase. The police department doesn't need more money, they need more common sense and training.
I am strongly opposed to an increase in the budget for the Phoenix Police Department. One of the deadliest police forces in the country does not need more money. Find communities not cops.

I strongly oppose the increase of funding for Phoenix police. I feel taxpayer money should be redirected to fund social programs that directly assist citizens.
I oppose this budget on the grounds that I believe our tax dollars are wasted on the Phoenix PD which has shown to have multiple systemic issues, including but not limited to settlements costing taxpayers millions, repeated use of excessive force, militarization, and systemic racism exposed when racist social media posts were found to be created or circulated by our officers. Instead, divert their funds to marginalized communities with a focus on prevention and public PD oversight.

I want my tax dollars to go to our community, not to widening the budget of an already well-known deadly police force.

I support the budget increase for the police department to continue protecting law abiding citizens.
