I oppose the continued funding the Phoenix Police Department and recommend allocating these funds to where it's need most like social services, community development, and affordable housing. With the distinction of the highest number of killings of civilians in the country, it's time for an overhaul of the PPD.

I oppose giving Phoenix PD, a police department with a long and still ongoing history of racist killings, even more money to continue brutalizing racial minorities. We need to invest more in community development and just about everything else, given the revenue drop of the ongoing pandemic and economic recession. Defund the police.

I oppose this level of funding.

I oppose this budget which continues to invest frankly absurd amounts of money into Phoenix PD. According to mappingpoliceviolence.org, Phoenix PD are have the third-highest kill rate of anywhere in the country. Divest from the police and put that money into the communities the police are hurting.

I oppose the proposed $944,680555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks you to redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community, such as community development and community enrichment.

I don’t believe that the police department needs nearly a billion dollars in funding. The Phoenix PD is one of the deadliest in the nation, and I don’t believe that increasing funds would further protect our community. It should go to underfunded programs meant for education and homelessness.

The Phoenix Police department does not need nearly 1B in funding when they aren't even adequately protecting or serving their citizens. They do not need more money to militarize themselves more when real police reform is what is needed. Until then, put my tax dollars towards covid testing or education.

I oppose the Criminal Justice and Public Safety budgets. There is too much money being allocated to the PHX police department. Too many people are killed in the Phoenix Metro area by police officers. Funds should be reallocated so that other first responders can be trained to deal with emergent situations (mental health professionals, medics, social workers). Public safety cannot be achieved through violence and regular homicide (on average every 5 days a PHX metro cop shoots someone).

As a tax payer I strongly oppose the nearly 1 billion dollar allocation of funding towards the Phoenix Police Department under the pretense of public safety. I urge you to consider the mental and emotional duress that will result from empowering and funding police officers without first establishing a system of regulation for their actions. Rather I request that these funds be put towards funding schools, transportation, and subsidized housing in underserved and marginalized state regions.

I strong oppose increasing the budget for the Phoenix PD. Instead, these funds should be allocated to departments that directly benefit the community, such as the education system and public health.

I am strongly opposed to the $944M+ allocated to our Public Safety Department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. The system in place has consistently proven that funding the Public Safety Department is damaging our communities and furthering a divide. Please re-consider and re-direct the funds to programs and policies (education, healthcare, infrastructure) which create and sustain a safe community.

I oppose the budget as it stands. Funds need to be reallocate to fund communities (and especially public schools) and defund the police. Black lives matter!

I oppose the budget increase to the Phoenix police department. We need to demilitarize our police force and instead invest those funds into areas which would enrich the community such as civilian oversight of the police force, education, increasing employment opportunities, and infrastructure and housing. This money needs to be used more wisely than further militarizing a police force that no longer sees itself as serving the community but at odds with it.

I am against the increase of funding to the police department. Instead we should allocate these funds to giving homes to the homelessness .

I oppose to the funding for "public safety", when the police dept are the threat to the community. The funds should be allocated to other programs that are actually FOR the people such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc

I’m opposed towards allocating funds towards the Phoenix PD. These funds should be used to uplift and enrich the community. As a taxpayer I urge you to reallocate these funds towards our public school system, community enrichment, and mental health programs. Defund and demilitarize the police. We demand that all body-cam footage be released for Dion Johnson’s family. That the officer who ended his life he named, prosecuted, and terminated from his position. Justice for Dion, Black Lives Matter.

I strongly oppose the further funding of all police departments in Arizona. Fund a civilian review board, not the Phoenix police department.

As a local tax payer I OPPOSE any money be allocated to PHX PD! I demand that the body camera from the murder of Dion Johnson be released. I demand the police officer who killed a man in cold bloods’ name be released. I demand the police officers involved be FIRED and PROSECUTED to the fullest without pay or pension. Allocate these funds towards low income POC communities including COVID testing and treatment. Justice for Dion! Black Lives Matter! Deinvest from ICE!

The funding should be allocated towards helping the community. Better education, poverty, transportation for example

Honestly with everything going on, we should be reducing the budget to Public Safety. I feel like the money has better uses that need work in our phx area and it all starts with adding funding to some ignored programs. For example, transportation, homeless care, healthcare facilities, and many more options! It's time to make changes in where our money is going! Let's reduce the budget and take the time to reform the system so we can carry out more solutions during these trying times.
