I oppose the allocation of $944,680,555 to public safety. Instead more money should be given to fund communities.

Phoenix police department needs the funding to help the communities they serve.

The city of Phoenix owes to invest back into the community and the people. Please do not continue to provide most of the funding to the police department.

The city of Phoenix needs to financially support the development of black and brown communities by the folks who live in those communities, instead of the majority of the cities budget going to funding police.

I support fund our police department. The destruction, chaos, and rioting this week are a gross indicator of why we need law enforcement to protect the citizens of or city. The department is already understaffed. Funding would provide being able to hire more officers, equipment to keep officers safe and accountable, and training to help our officers be able to serve the public better. Defunding our police department is not the solution!

I oppose the allocation of $944,680,555 to Public Safety. Law enforcement officers in our state have proven that they cannot be trusted to JUSTLY uphold peace and order in our state as evidenced by the increase in police brutality, officer involved shootings, and racial profiling that have become synonymous with Arizona. An appropriation of funds that invests more in community development, wellness, and involvement in civic and justice matters would be beneficial to the residents of our state.

I oppose the increase in the Phoenix Police Department's budget. Funding should be increased for public schools, housing, the Civilian Review Board, the Office of Accountability and Transparency and community enrichment programs. If the city continues to deplete the communities resources, instead of helping it improve, marginalized communities will always face severe inequalities.

As a Phoenix resident, I oppose the proposed funding for the Phoenix Police Department. Instead, the funding should be allocated to Phoenix education, public health and other community services meant to enrich the community.

I oppose with the overfunding of the Phoenix PD. As a Phoenix resident, it is disheartening to constantly see the racist, abusive & oppressive behavior enacted by people who have sworn to protect our community & even more so seeing them not being held accountable for their actions; Police kill & get away with it. Funding should be put in resources that benefit our community;such as healthcare, small businesses, housing & education. Our community shouldnt have to live in fear & we deserve better.

Responsible budgeting requires the money to go to responsible hands - of which the Phoenix police are not. This money should go towards transit, education, and health care - not to the murderers of Dion Johnson.

Also, $6mil for golf courses? Is there any recognition of the impending water crisis?

The City of Phoenix needs to critically consider any funding exoansion, and in fact any funding provision at all, to the Phoenix police department. The Phoenix police are nationally known as one of the most violent police forces, and any funding provided to this police force makes the city of Phoenix complicit in the violence against its citizens, particularly black and brown bodies.

I strongly oppose the increasing funding for ANY Arizona police departments as they have demonstrated time and time again that they are not capable of taking care of the community.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE with this grossly unproportionate funding for PHXPD. This will only lead to more excessive force, more separation, and no viable and present solutions for the tension at hand. Most of that money should be spent on community outreach, youth programs, rehabilitation and social services, enriching public spaces and bettering our city. Do the right thing and allocate this money to uplifting and bettering our community and citizens. Not harsher and more violent policing.

As a Phoenix tax payer and resident, I demand that the proposed $944M budget for public safety be spent ONLY on police accountability, independent/community reviews of police violence, complaints, and officer involved shootings, POC community uplift, community education, homelessness, COVID testing, and COVID treatment. I also demand all body cam footage be released for Dion Johnson's family and an independent review be performed. It's time our money be spent to serve and protect our people.

I strongly oppose the proposed increase in funding for the Phoenix Police Department. After seeing countless times that the PPD, has been seen having no regard for human life, this proposal is just not right. Instead, the funding should be provided to education and public health. This money can be put towards much greater causes. Please do not put our tax dollars to increase funding for an institution with no regard for human life, specifically our Black population.

I strongly oppose this increase in police funding. Time after time Phoenix PD has failed to meet the needs of the community. We need this funding to go towards programs that will actually benefit the community and puts an end to the militarization of the police and police brutality.

I can not support the allocation of funds to the police when our state has the highest number of police-involved shootings in the country. These funds belong to the people; fund schools, fund recovering small businesses, fund unemployment and relief post-COVID, but not PHX PD.

I strongly oppose this increase in police funding. Instead, this funding should go to community enrichment - specifically, programs that support civilian oversight, mental health and trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. I do not believe our community will truly be safe until we take the power out of the hands of the police and demilitarize them.
