I do not support increased funding for a police department that is not held accountable for their actions against the public. A police department does not need military grade equipment it defeats the purpose to protect and serve. I rather see funding go towards CRB in order to hold these officers just accountable as every citizen.

Phoenix PD does NOT need this much money. It's ineffective, further militarizing the police won't bring peace to our community. It will bring war and death and merciless killing and arrest of Black phoenicians.

Focus money on area near HSC where 1000's of mentally ill, young, with drug/alcohol problems live in alleys.
    1. Triage facility AWAY from the HSC. The area has highest violent crime rate in city. It is not safe for anyone.
    2. More shade/trees. Some areas like near HSC have NO TREES/SHADE.
    3. More facilities away from HSC for mentally ill, young, and elderly to decrease density. Criminals prey on those there.
    4. Police need more funding, not for guns, but to engage in community peacefully.

I strongly oppose the proposed allocation of $994,680,555 to our public safety department.

Reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. The Phoenix Police Department is ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Phoenix needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health services, education, and housing.

I strongly oppose the proposed $940,000,000+ towards out Public Safety department in 2020-2021 fiscal year. I ask that you redistribute the funds towards community enrichment and development. This includes the direction of funds to healthcare, mental health, and employment opportunities. The city of Phoenix deserves policing alternatives, appropriate funds that will create sustainable measures for our communities. Measures that encourage healing not suppression.

I strongly oppose the proposed $944 million that is allocated to the public safety department for the upcoming year. I am pleading that you put these funds to programs that address education, healthcare, housing and the rising unemployment issues. Our communities deserve so much more than to live in fear under police brutality of your Phoenix PD.

I strongly oppose the amount of funding being allocated to the police force on several line items. Please decrease the fund and reinvest money into the communities in services such as education, healthcare and services for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. More money should be invested in providing training in biases, de-escalation and minimizing the use of force.

Please reallocate the $944,680,555 currently set for the Public Safety Department, and redistribute the entirety of these funds to programs that directly benefit, help, educate, and heal our Phoenix community, such as the Community Development and Community Enrichment budgets. By supporting these budgets over PDS, you will be showing strong support for Phoenix community members, and actively help to nurture the tight-knit and strong community that Phoenix used to be known for. Thank you.

strongly oppose the proposed $940,000,000+ towards out Public Safety department in the upcoming fiscal year. I ask that you redistribute the funds towards community programs that will benefit the education, environment and enrichment of our community. Continuing to fund a failing organization would be irresponsible

As a City of Phoenix resident I strongly oppose the increase of funding for the Phoenix Police department. Recent events have shown that Phoenix PD is not capable of performing their job without brutality and racial discrimination. If anything, Phoenix PD needs re-training. The money could be better allocated to go back towards our communities, schools, housing, and public health.

I do not support increased funding as increased funding leads to increased militarization which leads to worse outcomes. I'd rather see this money used for atin-violence efforts or education

I strongly oppose the increased budget for the failing police system, that money should go towards the community.

Defund the PHXPD! I do not want my tax dollars funding their violence, hatred, and ineptitude. I would like the money to go towards community development/enrichment and social programs. I would like the money to go to public education. I would like the money to go towards public infrastructure. The people of Phoenix and the surrounding area work too hard for their money for it to go into fueling the oppression and murder of black and brown communities.

As a tax payer and member of this community, I strongly oppose the increase in police funding. We should NOT be rewarding a force that continues to fail its communities. Rather, this funding should be allocated to enriching and developing low income communities, education, mental health services, transportation and much more. It is truly sad that we are ignoring other issues and plan to increase funds towards an unjust and violent system that is in desperate need of reform.

After recent protests that have highlighted issues of police brutality and state violence against Black and Brown communities, the city of Phoenix needs to actively redirect their funds away from the police and invest into these communities. Public safety must include an investment in housing, health care, good and safe jobs, environmental protections, education, free and improved public transit options and resources for small businesses and our undocumented communities.

I oppose the budget that the city council proposes, because it is unacceptable that the police force continues to be funded while there are people that need help with basic things like food, rent, bills, etc. It is unacceptable, we deserve better.

Redirect funding from public safety to community development and enrichment! The Phoenix PD has proven that it does not exist to keep us safe. The City of Phoenix would be better served by alternatives that break the cycle of poverty: education, healthcare (including mental health), housing, and employment opportunities. I am a future social worker and believe the focus should be on creating and sustaining community development initiatives.
