I oppose the proposed budget increase to the Phoenix police. Instead, we should distribute the budget amongst the community creating more housing for homeless families and those who were affected by COVID. The police should be re trained to de escalate situations without using complete force.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

As a Phoenix resident, I oppose the disproportionate funding for public safety. Instead, the $944,680,555 should be redirected to programs and services that enrich our community such as education, health, housing and employment.

Pass the budget! Law and order is the foundation of American greatness and it comes with a price tag. Pay it now!

    Oppose

995 million dollars being spent to target and harm the lives of Phoenix residents. This money should be spent on building our communities and the families not destroying them. I ask you reconsider sending this money to where its needed the most, funding the future and giving educators their appropriate pay.

I oppose this additional funding to the Phoenix PD. I instead suggest this money be allocated to social programs such as housing and education. Strengthening the quality of and our community’s access to these type of programs will undoubtedly create a safer, more resilient, and more equitable Phoenix than giving the additional funds to the police force would.

Please reconsider the proposed 944,680,555 allocated to our Public Safety Department, specifically the Police Department, for the upcoming fiscal year and instead allocate the funds to programs that heal our community, such as mental health/trauma services, education/after school programs, housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Increase the proposed budgets for community development and enrichment to create and sustain a safe community for all.

I do not support the increased funding of he Phoenix PD. I believe the funds should be re-allocated to programs that will create and maintain a safe and welcoming city. These programs should benefit education, healthcare, affordable housing and employment opportunities that build a better community.

We need to set an example. We need change and we need it now. I ask that we defund the police. This all needs to stop.

I am opposed to Police Department’s current budget and propose it be cut in order for the city to be able to allocate more funds to programs that will actually make the Phoenix communities more safe, educated, and sustainable. The police are becoming more and more of a threat to the great people of Arizona. The community has lost trust in the department and does not agree with the current planned budget for them for this coming fiscal year.

As a resident of Arizona I am calling to demand that the city set an example for the rest of the state by doing the following: Defunding of local police forces and the accountability of officers involved in violence against all people in our community, especially people of color. Police officers should not be allowed to employ the use of excessive force against any human being in any circumstance, including the use of military grade weapons and equipment.

As a Phoenix resident, I oppose increased funding for the Phoenix Police Department. Phoenix's PD is one of the most lethal in the country and does not face consequences for deadly force. No more funding until body cams are required and recording at all times while on duty. Please reallocate funds to productive channels such as the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Police Civilian Review Board. Take a stand against police brutality now, and end the militarization of our police force.

The proposed police budget should be cut and redirected towards human services and environmental programs. These two programs are vastly underfunded and are vital for the wellbeing of the community.

I strongly oppose this budget proposed for “public safety.” We must prioritize our funding on education, on the homeless, on community enrichment and many other things. Defund the Phoenix police.

Mayor Gallego and Members of the City Council,

As a resident of the city of Phoenix I request you consider redirecting the proposed $944,680,555 allocated toward the Phoenix Police Department toward community programs that support the wellbeing of BIPOC in our city. Thank you for creating civilian oversight of the police department in our city. Please fully fund this program to maximize its capacity. Please demonstrate this city’s values by spending money in ways that BIPOC can flourish.

The 995 million dollars being allotted toward the police is better spent on programs to educate the citizens, public transportation, housing, and other things to truly benefit the people in Phoenix. The Phoenix police are notoriously violent, and giving them money will only contribute to the deaths and injuries of Phoenix citizens.
