I strongly oppose the budget allotment being given to PhxPD. More money should be allocated for community development, infrastructure, workforce development, and education.
In Phoenix there are approximately 20 officers for every 10,000 people...so one for every 500 people.
These officers are working so many thankless hours, working what can be said is now the most hated profession, all to try to do their part for their community. The thought of even reducing funding would be lead to unimaginable chaos. Reform is needed; and there must be a budget to be able to fund the programs/training necessary for reform.
I strongly oppose the proposed budget, specifically the amount allocated for the public safety department. The almost 1 billion in tax dollars should be redistributed to the budgets for community development, community enrichment, and the Police Civilian Review Board.
I am a Phoenix resident, and I want to see the money allocated to police in the 2020-21 budget redirected to programs that heal and educate our community. These funds should be reallocated to increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Phoenix needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education, and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
I strongly oppose another cent being given to the Phoenix PD, until, at the very least, they are able to accurately represent their actions in the face of peaceful protests.

The PHX police department is consistently ranked as one of the most violent PDs in the country. The City of PHX deserves better. We need and deserve policing alternatives and investments in mental health, trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare and employment opportunities to create lasting positive change. I am asking that you use these funds from the Public Safety budget to increase the budgets for community enrichment and development.

I strongly oppose the adoption of the 2020-21 budget toward the public safety department. Myself and my community ask that the funds be redirected to programs that actually promote a safe community, such as education, fair housing, physical and mental health services, and employment opportunities rather than to the Phoenix Police Department. Phoenix PD is statistically ranked one of the highest in the country of cases of police killing civilians. They do not protect, but harm. Defund Phoenix PD.

I strongly encourange you to allocate more money for community enrichment and development. There is a need for more money in our communities, and there has been for years. Putting more money into our police force will go on to further militarize a system that heavily targets marginalized community members. There is an issue here, please listen to the people when we say: we want to see an improvement in our beautiful communities, and funding our violent police force will only hurt us. Listen.
Phx PD do not protect and serve everyone equally. I am demanding the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.
I strongly oppose the funding directed toward the Phoenix Police Department. No money should be given to the Phoenix PD until they cease their attacks on peaceful protesters and open themselves up to the leadership and oversight of the Civilian Review Board.
This week was an obvious indication that the Phoenix Police need all the support and funding they can get! They stood and supported protesters even though they deserved harsher punishments for the crimes they were committing during the riots! How can Phoenix PD make any positive affects on the community without proper financial resources?! SUPPORT PHOENIX PD!!!

I oppose the proposed budget. We do not need more police funding. Reallocate money. Defund the police.
I strongly oppose, please defund PD. Please allocate this funding back to the community (education, housing, and healthcare).

I oppose this budget, we need to defund the Police Department and allocate more funding into education, housing, and our suffering communities.

I disagree with this budget allocation. I do not believe the police needs more funding or power.
