I support the budget. How are the police supposed to protect us without funding?

I very strongly oppose of these funds going towards the PHX police department. The funds should be going towards more productive and healing programs, and evidently the police force is not. DEFUND PHX POLICE DEPARTMENT, black lives matter.

The Phoenix Police Department is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Reconsider the proposed budget and increase the budgets for community development and community enrichment.

I strongly oppose this proposed budget, as it allocates more funding towards a police department that is deadly and overfunded. Instead, invest this money into the community through civilian oversight on the police and improvements to education, housing, healthcare, and other programs that support people.

I fully SUPPORT the proposed budget to the Police Dept. Our business of 45 years is in Sunnyslope (DISTRICT 3), and we cannot operate without the help of all the Police we work with including our CAO's, SRO's, Bike Squad, Sergeants, Lieutenants and Commander. Phx PD is VITAL. We need more Police. My other family's business has been in South Phoenix (DISTRICT 8) for 50 YEARS. We strongly support our Phx PD. The 5th largest City in the US needs more Police Officers. Thank you, AZ Native

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.
Schools are in desperate need of funding and would be a much more plentiful investment to the prosperity of this community!

On Sunday night (May 31, 2020), I witnessed my neighborhood (Garfield) gas-bombed by police in riot gear hunting down a group of young protesters on foot. They bruised and battered one of my neighbors who were in their front yards. Without the funds to act like militarized terrorists, they might have treated the protesters and my neighbors with more civility and compassion. They would be better at policing with less weaponry. We need accountability--this is one of the steps how. Defund them.

I strongly oppose the 944,680,555 budget that is being allocated to public safety for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Instead redirect these funds to programs that benefit our communities such as education, afforadable housing, transportation, and community/mental health. For far too long this budget has been used to militarize the police that terrorizes POC in our state.

I ask that the council reconsider the Phoenix police department fund [$944,680,555] and allocate the resources to other community programs (i.e. Community Development and Enrichment [51,597,756]). The PHX PD has lost the trust of the community by failing to uphold public safety; earning the rank of 3rd deadliest police force in the nation for police/civilian killings. Do not award them this insane budget. We deserve policing alternatives that will create and sustain a safer community. Thank you.

I oppose this proposed budget to the police. I demand justice to the people of color who are victims of such constant brutality and murder. Fund schools and education system, hospitals, community medical resources, and mental health resources in the valley instead. Stop funding violence start funding knowledge, recovery, and the ability to thrive instead. I can't believe this should even be a question.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our Public Safety Department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment as suggested below.

Until the police can be properly vetted and trained to serve and protect Arizona civilians, they should not be funded by the civilian dollar. Greater transparency is needed in the wake of the murder of Dion Johnson.

As we see unprofessional policing in community and distrust between police and our communities. We need reassess Phoenix police department training and community engagement. We need fully funded Community review board with investigation power of police misconduct behaviors. I think first order of CRB should reviewing all phoenix police complaints and disciplinary actions to make sure police officers with past misconduct are warned of their behaviors and coached. It’s time to be proactive

I oppose this amendment. I request and grant my position to the defunding of the PHXPD. With police brutality and deaths at the hands of police rising within our city, we need funds to be allocated directly within communities to support and educate on leadership, innovation, and strategy on a better effective, healthy (physically, mentally and emotionally) and safer ways to replace policing and to actually protect and serve, not silence and kill!

I would strongly encourage you to reconsider the proposed budget. In a time where resources are limited, I very much believe that funding should be pulled from the Phoenix Police Department and invested in supporting communities that have been impacted by police violence and misconduct.

I strongly oppose the $944,680,555 budget that is allocated to public safety for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. The money should be reallocated towards programs for education, environmental services, and community/mental health. Phoenix PD takes an unreasonable amount of money from the budget every year and is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Our police must be demilitarized.
