I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our Public Safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Redirect funds to programs that heal/educate our community. Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
DEFUND the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.
I strongly oppose any allocation of the Public Safety Budget to the Phoenix Police Department. I support the reallocation that will truly benefit the community in areas such as, but not limited to, infrastructure, education, medicine, and healthcare. Prove to We the People our system is not yet broken.
I am strongly opposed to the proposed 2020-21 budget, specifically the use of $944,680,555 to the Phoenix PD. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal & educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 & $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Phoenix needs & deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health & trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, & employment opportunities.
Please reallocate funds from public safety to community development, community enrichment, and environmental services. Strong communities don’t require a heavy police presence. Phoenix PD has an uncomfortably high amount of civilian deaths by police officers. Many don't feel safe. Funds are also needed in public schools, especially with the pressures of COVID-19.
Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our Public Safety Department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment. The Phoenix Police Department is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various training HAVE NOT and WILL NOT end police brutality.
I oppose this proposed funding increase. In the wake of a pandemic where 80 percent of our hospital beds are occupied for covid related care and cases are increasing quickly again, we need to redirect these funds to public health initiatives to improve education about the virus and faciliate safe practices in schools and essential businesses.
The Phoenix police department is statistically the highest at killing its own civilians. Due to this, I would rather have money from the Police Department go to community development and education, as AZ itself is one of the lowest in education.
All those who oppose the funding to our men and woman in blue might someday be at the mercy of thier response. A Short sided and emotional response is not the answer. I unequivocally support the thin blue line and request the funding be made available to our officers and thier departments.
I strongly oppose the nearly $1 billion allocated to the Phoenix Police Department. This $1 billion should instead be directed towards building up community infrastructure, environmental, and social programs. Specifically, Phoenix is creating an independent civilian review board to monitor the police and provide transparency and accountability. Phoenix is proposing only $400,000 of the $3 million required to run the CRB. The $1 billion should be redirected toward funding this review board.
I strongly oppose the $944,680,555 budget that is allocated to public safety for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. The money should be reallocated towards programs for education, environmental services, and community/mental health. Phoenix PD takes an unreasonable amount of money from the budget every year and has maintained a level of violence that makes this community feel unsafe.
I am opposed to the proposed 2020-21 annual budget, specifically the allocation of $944,680,555 to the Phoenix PD. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal & educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 & $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Please reconsider the proposed budget allocated to the Public Safety Department for the 20-21 fiscal year. Please redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase proposed budgets for community development and enrichment. Phoenix PD is statistically ranked highest in the county for cases of police killing civilians. Phoenix deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health, trauma services, education, housing, healthcare, employment, and arts and culture.

The city of Phoenix needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health, education, trauma services and healthcare. Support our communities from the ground up, instead of over-allocating funds to reactionary institutions.
As a tax paying citizen, I urge you to rethink to Department of Public Safety Budget. There are much more useful ways to allocate the absurd budget of $994 million dollars. There is no reason our money should be funding one of the most aggressive, lethal police forces in America. I would much rather see more money be going into education, community enrichment and development, healthcare, and other underfunded state programs.
As a Phoenix teacher and mother, I oppose the funding increase for the Phoenix Police Department. These funds should instead be invested in community programs, education, community health, mental health, and other social services that are more in need.
I oppose this tentative budget and instead, support and encourage a reallocation from the police and judicial systems to housing, education, and healthcare.

I strongly support the nearly $1 billion for PHX PD. With the riots & destruction this past week it's a great indicator that we need the funding in order for our officers to keep our citizens safe and properties from being destroyed. The department is already understaffed. Funding would enable hiring of more officers, better equipment to keep officers safe and accountable in order to keep us safer. Defunding the PD is NOT the answer. Also, how do you put a price tag on the safety of human lives?
