Our Community asks that you redirect funds from Phoenix Police to programs that heal and educate our community. Phoenix police is ranked one of the highest in civilian killings. Funds should be allocated towards programs that actually help the community such as sustainability, environmental, education, housing, and healthcare.

I fully support the men and women of the Phoenix Police dept. I am thankful for their presence. They deserve a decent wage and opportunities for advancement. No city, especially one our size should be without LEO’s.

I am here today to ask that you reconsider the proposed budget allocated to the Public Safety Department for the 20-21 year. The Phx police department is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. As the family member to those who suffer from mental health illness and addiction disorder issues, I can attest to the dire need to redirect funds that support health, education, and enrichment of our Phoenix community. Please do your part in serving our city

I strongly oppose the proposed 2020-2021 budget. Funding must be diverted from policing to invest in mental health services, education, adequate and affordable housing, healthcare, and employment—which are severely underfunded under the proposed budget. In 2018, Phoenix had the most officer-involved shootings in the country, disproportionately targeting minorities. Instead of pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into reinforcing racial inequality, fight to ensure greater opportunity for all.

As a downtown asu student, not only was campus dangerous but also heartbreaking. I lost count of the amount of people who took shelter on benches because the city doesn’t have the money to shelter them during a pandemic and during 110 degree summers. Environmentally, Phoenix will soon not be existent due to pressure by climate change. We MUST push for renewable energy to save Phoenix. This budget proposal is just horrible, the funds are necessary elsewhere.

I am urging you to reconsider the proposed budget allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Redirect those funds to programs that heal & educate our community. Increase the proposed budgets for community development & community enrichment.
The city of Phoenix needs policing alternatives & investments in mental health & trauma services, education & after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare and employment opportunities.

I strongly oppose the $944,680,555 proposed for public safety. The majority of this money should be allocated to community development, city improvement fund, human services federal trust fund and environmental services. Thank you.

I strongly oppose any additional funding to the Phoenix Police department and strongly urge the council to reconsider the proposed budget. Any funds chosen to be allocated should go to the Office of Accountability and Transparency. Our city and our community is in desperate need of reform - additional funds should be redirected into programs focused on but not limited to education, health, mental health services, environmental, and adequate housing.

I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. I do not believe that allocating so much of the budget to the Phoenix Police Department will benefit our community. Please consider allocating the funds toward the $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

I 100% support the budget for our police department. These men & women put their lives on the line everyday they put on that uniform. They protect us, the citizens every time they are called upon. We should be thanking them for their service, not trying to take away their funding. These are volatile times. Who’s going to protect us? They city council. I doubt that.

I am commenting for you to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various trainings have not and will not end police brutality. I ask that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate out community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Phoenix deserves alternatives.

I oppose. Increasing the PHXPD budget during a pandemic and tense race relations brought forth by police officers who are getting away with murdering America's citizens is unacceptable. PHXPD has used aggression towards peaceful protesters exercising their first amendment right. I ask that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community, instead of giving it to the police force notorious for ranking the highest statistically for cases of police killing its own civilians.

I oppose the proposed budget for 2020-21. Please consider re-allocating the funds for public safety to community programs, arts enrichment programs, and community resources. Take a moment to think about what a future that continues to defund programs that bring communities together and help sustain communities will look like. When communities have support and resources they thrive!
