I oppose the funding increase for the Phoenix Police Department, especially with their inciting of violence during recent protests. These funds should instead be invested in community programs that will help build stronger, more educated, and healthier communities. Consider increasing funding for education, community health, mental health, and other social services that are more in need, especially during the current pandemic.

Community Development and Enrichment are paramount to Phoenix growth and stability. I oppose this tentative budget and suggest a reallocation from the police and judicial systems to housing, education, and healthcare--creating an environment in which the former will not need such an astronomical budget as proposed in this agenda.

The Phoenix Police Department is one of the deadliest Police Departments in the nation. General Funding should be withheld and redirected to training, mental health, and community development. We have a systemic problem where the community is not cared for. Instead of using violence and criminalizing citizens, we need to fix the problem at the source and take care of our community. The Phoenix Police is not working, we need a change.

Police department funding should be redirected to support thriving communities, create economic equality, and enrich the lives of our neighbors. This will reduce the need for police presence. Affordable education, child care, healthcare, housing, and other enablement programs are desperately in need of financial support. Not the police force.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to the public safety department for 2020-2021. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Please increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Phoenix Police Department is ranked one of the highest in the country in terms of police killing civilians. The City of Phoenix needs and deserves programs that will improve our community.

I strongly oppose the inflated Public Safety budget. The Criminal Justice, Transport, Community Development/Enrichment, and especially Environmental Services budgets are all significantly under-funded, especially in the face of the department's poor anti-civilian record. The Public Safety budget should be reallocated primarily towards these under-funded areas and the remainder should be refocused on improved de-escalation training and fewer, but more highly skilled officers rather than hardware.

I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Please increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

The city of Phoenix needs investments in mental health, education, trauma services and healthcare. Support our communities from the ground up, instead of over-allocating funds to reactionary institutions.

I feel my tax dollars would be better spent on education, social services that could benefit the community better, and environmental services. Please cut the budget to phxpd and spend it on programs and organizations that will heal and grow our community rather than harm and persecute its people.

I strongly oppose any more money going to the police department until they can show us ya paying citizens that we are safe and supported by them. The money could be used for our community such as our veterans, children and families in need, the foster care system.
    Please reconsider.

I strongly oppose the proposed 2020-21 budget as the Phoenix PD has proven that diversifying training for police does not stop police brutality, with Phoenix being statistically ranked as having one of the highest cases of police brutality in the country. Phoenix needs to defund the PD and increase the budget for community development and community enrichment in order to create a safer community.

I strongly oppose the $944M being allocated to our public safety department. The Phoenix PD is statistically ranked one of the highest the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have proven that diverisifying and implementing trainings do not work. The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments. Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

Nationally ranked, PHX police have the highest number of cases of civilian death due to police actions. Our communities would benefit more from re-allocation of the funds to the budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment.

I strongly oppose the proposed budget. If more money was put into community, mental health and education programs than crime rate would surely decrease to follow.

Strongly oppose. Defund the police. Make the lawsuits come out of their pensions and union fees. The public shouldn't have their tax dollars used to pay out victims of police brutality.

Fund our police! Defunding the police will only make matters worst; if the community feels the need for reform then a smaller budget will only worsen the department. Fewer police and a poorly funded police department correlates to higher crime rates and unsafe communities. Support the police!

I strongly oppose the proposed budget and feel that the Phoenix Police Department needs to be defunded and more funding given to community programs as well as mental health programs.

The Phoenix PD is ranked one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing trainings do not work to end police brutality. Phx needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Defund the Phx PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

Oppose. The police are trained for urban warfare in which they prey upon the weak and enforce violent control tactics to continue suppressing our communities and freedom. They are trained to fear Us; the People. Gut the police system and database from its roots. We deserve better.

I strongly oppose an increase in spending for the police department. Please fund community outreach programs instead.
