Please use our tax payer dollars for projects the improve our community rather than our violent and overfunded police force.

Please consider allocating part of the $99M that goes to police and public safety department and direct it towards funding more community development, community outreach and demilitarizing the police force. If they are here to protect and serve our communities, then the Phoenix police department needs a new training system that emphasizes on safety of its citizens and weave out the racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic cops that are killing our innocent citizen.

I strongly support passing the budget. The past few days, the men and women in law enforcement have proudly stood up and showed you who they are in the midsts of hate towards them even though they have knelt to show that they do not support Police brutality. How can the Department make changes if they are left without proper funding? Phoenix is rapidly growing and is currently the 5th largest city in the US. We cannot keep this city safe without this budget. Fund Phoenix PD!

I oppose increased funding to the police. Funding should be going to non-violent emergency management, social programs, and community services.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that support our community. Increase the proposed budgets for community development and enrichment. Research shows that investment in community-based organizations who focus on crime and community life leads to reductions in the murder rate, violent crimes, & property crimes (see https://doi.org/10.1177/0003122417736289 )

I strongly oppose giving a high budget to the PD when the resources could be allocated elsewhere. This is not a priority, and giving more power to the untrustworthy system that chastises it's own citizens to such a degree (to put it nicely) is completely inexcusable.

I strongly oppose the budget increase to the Phoenix PD. The department has a history of terrorizing our communities and we should instead be investing in things to repair the damage they have done.

I oppose to the public safety budget that is going to be allocated to the police. Please reconsider the amount of $944,680,555 that is being allocated to public safety specifically the police department. Increase the funds to Community development and Community Enrichment instead. Defund the Phoenix police.

I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Please increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. The Phoenix Police Department is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. The City of Phoenix needs investments in mental health, trauma services, education, after-school care, housing, healthcare, and employment.

I strongly oppose the allocation of over $944 million to the Phoenix Police Department. Our policing system is based on systemic racism and is not keeping our communities safer. Police officers have repeatedly harmed and killed Black community members and other People of Color. Instead of pouring a huge portion of the municipal budget into policing, reallocate to fund more community resources like housing, mental health supports, and COVID response.

I oppose the disproportionate amount of funds going towards Public Safety, specifically the Phoenix PD. I hope that the city of Phoenix will redistribute these funds to other areas, such as, Community Enrichment and Engagement. The funds that are allocated to Public Safety should go towards vetting processes and training programs directly related to decreasing the likelihood of police brutality,

I vehemently oppose the suggested increase in funding for the Phoenix PD, the most violent police department in the country. Funds should be reallocated towards bettering the communities that have been left behind and suffered most at the hands of police. Funding should be given to education, mental health resources, making healthcare more accessible, and infrastructure and maintenance.

I strongly oppose this budget. We cannot continue to spend money on increasing police numbers and providing them with militarized equipment when we know these things do not help curb crime, but instead put our community members at risk. I am demanding the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget. We need more transparency and preventative solutions that focus on support systems, not more police.

As a resident of Phoenix I demand that the city set an example for the rest of the state by defunding of Phoenix PD. Phoenix PD is one of the most lethal police forces in the country. And sure, maybe last year they didn’t kill quite as many people as they have in previous years... But the unlawful execution of human beings is not something that we can see diminish incrementally. We need zero tolerance on this and the way we can get there is to defund the police.

I strongly oppose this budget proposal for public safety as it only gives power to a police department that consistently abuses its power. It is completely irresponsible for our city to be giving more money to a department that is the antithesis of public safety. Rather, reallocate this money to a sector that actually helps the community. Please re-evaluate this decision.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year.
The Phoenix police department is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various trainings have not and will not end police brutality.
Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to polices and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

I strongly oppose this budget. We need to defund the police, and instead, allocate funding to programs that help marginalized people.

I strongly oppose spending $944million on public safety. As a resident of Phoenix, I’d like to see some of those millions be reallocated towards education, housing, and community development projects.
