As a Phoenix resident, I ask that the city decreases the Phoenix PD budget and reallocates those funds to community improvement.

I believe the the City of Phoenix budget should be higher to allow for more police oversight through the Community Review Board. This requires much greater funding than is allotted.

I oppose the allocation of $944,680,555 to public safety. Instead more money should be given to fund communities.

I oppose the budget that the city council proposes, because it is inmoral and unacceptable that the police force continues to be funded while there are people that need help with basic things like food, rent, bill payments because they lost their job or saw reductions in their work. The police has money to continue terrorizing protestors. It is unacceptable, we deserve better. The undocumented community thatbis not receiving aid continues to be among the most impacted with no help from city.

I strongly oppose this budget. Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate city funds to policies and programs that will actually create and sustain a safe community.

Defund PHXPD today! They are violent and face no consequences. They have killed too many innocent people. Do the right thing and defund the police! Give that money back to the communities they hurt most!

    Hello,

My name is Selene Aldrete. I am contacting you to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our Public Safety Department for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment, and decrease spending on hypermilitarization of police.

    Sincerely,
    Selene Aldrete

    Unnecessary

I oppose giving the police that much money when they have not been held accountable to taxpayers and continue to waste money by escalating violence. They had every officer out working tonight after curfew. This is a waste of money. There needs to be a fully funded citizen review board. There needs to be funds allocated for diversity training, hiring and retention and the homeless should not be living on the streets. I am a taxpaying, voting, homeowner. Thank you.

I oppose the proposed budget increase for the Phoenix Police Dept. Theae funds should be used to implement a community oversight committee and towards funding issues that actually could have an impact on reducing violence in our communities. I am a registered Phoenix voter and I want to see our budget reflect the needs of the people, not the police.

I am commenting to express outrage regarding the allocation of ANY additional funding to the Phoenix Police Department 2020-21 budget. I unequivocally oppose ANY such funding increase earmarked for "NEIGHBORHOOD PROTECTION", "CITY IMPROVEMENT", "PUBLIC SAFETY ENHANCEMENT/EXPANSION" or any additional purpose under which Phoenix Police may qualify. I call upon our elected officials to begin divesting from the Phoenix Police Department immediately and reinvesting in equitable public works programs.

I strongly oppose increasing Phoenix police funding. We need to demilitarize the police, they do not more need help abusing their power and killing black citizens. That money should be used for aiding black communities with education, jobs, and funding for covid testing in communities of color. Do NOT INCREASE FUNDING to one of the most violent police forces in this country. Black lives matter, and now is the time to show solidarity and support with the most marginalized groups in the nation.

I oppose to the funding of the Phoenix Police Department. They are statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various trainings have not and will not end police brutality. The city of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities

I strongly urge you to oppose the increase to the Phoenix police budget for any reason. Before the Phoenix PD should receive any additional funds as allocated in this budget, the Council must fully fund the community oversight board, terminate the relationship between Phoenix Police and ICE. This money should be reinvested into education funding, public health, and economic development specifically for Black residents in the City - the most pressing issues for Phoenix residents.

reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our Public Safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment. PHX PD is ranked the highest in civilian deaths, and we need to be allocating the budget to programs that help get to the root of crime, instead of to policing that is proven to escalate it.

In order to progress as a community, all people must feel safe and included. Funding for the PHXPD, one of, if not the most violent police force in the nation MUST decrease. These funds need to be distributed to other community resources including: housing, sustainability, community enrichment, and public transit.

I strongly oppose efforts to increase funding to the Phoenix Police Department and instead ask you to commit to fully funding the Police Civilian Review Board. If there was ever a moment to show leadership, recognize the real problems and disparate impact generated by police violence on communities of color, and move us towards accountability and reform, this is the moment. Please leverage your power for good, for justice, and for the change we need to see here at home and across the country.
