I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. We must prioritize healing and growth in our community over further militarization of our police force. It's time to focus on sustainable communities, justice, and dismantling systematic oppression and police brutality. We need to re-think how we police, not continue to simply increase funding.
I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Priority should be given to community development and education over militarization, police brutality, and racism. Our community is urging that you instead use move the funds to affordable housing, education, and social service programs for the betterment of the community.
I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community is asking that you instead increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. We must prioritize healing and growth in our community over further militarization of our police force. It's time to focus on sustainable communities, justice, and dismantling systematic oppression and police brutality. Reconsider the budget.
I am writing to support a reconsideration of the proposed budget from the June 3rd meeting. It is imperative that the city council listen to the voices of the people who are demanding appropriate and visible action against funding additional support for the Phoenix PD. These funds are necessary in other sectors of the city and should be appropriately and carefully distributed to areas that build the community rather than tear it down.
I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. The Phoenix PD is one of the most lethal in the country and priority should be given to community development and education over militarization, police brutality, and racism. Our community is asking that you instead use move the funds to affordable housing, education, and social service programs.
PHX PD is statistically and undeniably violent especially towards marginalized demographics. Please divert funding to CRB and OAT. I imagine a Phoenix where we have the resources to protect and heal our communities in a way that is dignified to black and brown bodies too.
I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community is asking that you instead to fund the Office of Accountability and Transparency with 2.6 million dollars from the police budget, and move the Phoenix PD budget into community services like affordable housing, education, and social service programs.
Generalizing all people of a certain color and an entire police department and its officers are both wrong. Our issues, real or perceived, with our police are a symptom and not the cause. My heart breaks over the pain and anger we are seeing and hearing; it is real and cannot be ignored. But we cannot afford the luxury of emotional decision-making; I support the balanced budget as is, with sincere effort for additional funding when the City’s bond rating is not at stake.
The police department needs less money invested into them. They don’t need raises and we especially don’t want them in our schools and communities where they are killing us just because they can. We the people need more money invested into our education system, communities, parks and many other resources that get ignored when creating the itinerary on how the money will be spent.
Defund the Phoenix police. Please reduce the amount allocated to the police in the budget by at least 50% and put that money into other community oriented programs.
The Phoenix Police are underfunded. They need more funding. This is not even enough. The Police are protect the public. I value my life and I value the Police's lives. They need this funding and MORE funding so they can perform their duty in protecting the law abiding citizens. Do not divert the money from this department to any other dept. Pass the budget as it is NOW.

The decision to increase the funding of the phoenix police department should certainly be reconsidered.

As one of the prop taxpayers that depend on the police dept every single day I support the reconsideration on this issue

I support NOT amending and keeping the current police budget. No defunding. Blue Lives Matter !!
I support the current budget do not take away from our police and fire

Absolutely against de funding the police.
I support fully funding the police department at this critical time and also support the budget as it sits now.

I am calling about your insane, irresponsible plans to defund the police department while our country is spiraling into anarchy.
Support budget as is! I support all funding for PHX PD!
