I oppose the defunding of the Police department. I believe that those men and women who do a good job, and are in the force for the right reasons should never fear they have to watch their budget, be understaffed, or feel they dont have needed tools.

That being said, I believe strong accountability is a MUST, and reform measures must be implemented to ensure public support. There should be a ZERO tolerance for bad behavior , or looking the other way; this can can poison the rest of the force.

I support the full funding of Phoenix police officers. They are one of the only essential roles of government, and actually are in need of a pay increase. Please do not cow down to the threats of the ignorant. If more training is needed, an even greater budget is needed for PD. Please listen to your citizens. As a fourth generation native of Phoenix, I stand in full support of a well-armed and well-trained police force. Our streets are much more dangerous than in my grandparent's time.

Defunding the police department would be a huge disservice to this city. You want well trained officers, a thorough hiring process to hire some outstanding officers? IT REQUIRES FUNDING! Proud of how PHX PD is handling the protesters. KEEP the funding to KEEP THE PEACE!

I support PPD and I oppose the budget cut. There is a nationwide movement to defund certain departments that are spending money on military equipment and other inappropriate items. This is NOT what PPD is doing. Cutting funding will reduce staffing, increase response times, and kill programs designed to support policy reform. While I support this movement for some areas, it is the wrong move for Phoenix

As a long time resident of Sunnyslope, I support our Phoenix PD. They are always here for our community and the funds allotted to them should absolutely NOT be reduced, they need every bit of funding that they can get.

Our officers need their funding in order to effectively do their job. Updated equipment, and an adequate number of trained officers will ensure our officers ability to serve and protect the communities they work in.

I support fully funding the Phoenix Police Department. The original budget needs to be passed as is with no changes to funding. The police department is woefully understaffed and they need to funds to hire more officers, get new equipment and training. As a community we need to support our police for the hard jobs they perform on a daily basis. Fully fund the Phoenix Police Department!!

Anyone who opposes the full budget opposes the safety of Phoenicians. Cutting budget at a time like this is asinine!! George Floyd's death is universally accepted as a tradgedy that should have never occurred. He was murdered but punishing good people, cops and citizens alike, will not amend the loss. Nothing can. It will only make it worse! Statistically, crime against blacks increases when police is defunded. Support the full budget!!

The fact that defunding our department is even a discussion is absolutely ridiculous. Our city is a cesspool for crime, and Carlos Garcia has done NOTHING to improve or even taken the time to listen to our concerns in district 8. All we have is our police keeping some kind of order in these streets. You want all these art projects but we don’t need art, we need our LAW AND REVITALIZATION.

I SUPPORT FULLY FUNDING OUR PHOENIX POLICE DEPARTMENT.

I 100% believe we should be supporting and applying all funding necessary to the police department. These individuals risk their lives daily to protect our communities and defunding them would absolutely ridiculous. They NEED these funds To replace and fix old/broken equipment and to increase their staffing level.

I support fully funding the Phoenix Police Department. Cutting funding from the Police Department would only serve to diminish the quality of the Officer you deploy onto your streets as they would receive less training and less equipment. If the recent events around the country have shown us anything, we need to invest more in the police to ensure they are recruiting quality officers and providing modern, high quality training to them. Whatever the future hold, remember you get what you pay for.

The idea that defunding PD will hep anything is bizarre. Those angry with police operations want more accountability and training, if that’s the case -they need funding for both! PD is already stretched thin, more officers with more training and more resources is the best way to keep our city safe but these things cost money. Taking money away from our Police Department will only result in Less training, higher crime rates and slower response times. If anything, increase their funding!

I fully support the Phoenix Police Department the officers go above and be on their duties they are overworked and under appreciated. They were there working the front lines of Covid and the riots. They put their lives on the line every day please do not take their funding away.

Keep the police department funded! Defunding by 25% will be detrimental to the safety of our community. Crime rates will rise and the safety of our community will be put in unnecessary danger. More funding is needed to provide training to police to help end systemic racism and to educate the community on how to create safe environments. Funding the police will help promote change and unity in our community!

I support funding the Phoenix PD 100%. I urge you to pass the budget now. You are all elected officials and need to represent the majority of citizens which depend on our police department for safety. Be true leaders during this time of conflict and an example for the country by passing the budget and supporting the Phoenix police.

Getting into the policing career we spend nearly $2,000 on the uniforms, boots, handcuffs, flashlights, medical equipment, and countless other things. All these things are purchased out of our own pocket. Often times, we as police officers are also spending our own money to feed victims and those in need. A diminishing budget for an already high cost career would only create an inferior service to our community.

It is absolutely ridiculous and irresponsible to even entertain the idea of defunding the Phoenix Police Department or any other Police Department for that matter. The community wants better training for its Police Force and they deserve it, as does its Officers. A move to defund, however, will only delay that better training and better equipment. Judging all Police Officers by the actions of a few is wrong and hypocritical.Phoenix Police Officers strive for perfection, but are human in the end.
