Fully funding Police and Fire is for our protection. Protection form law breakers.

I support the Phoenix Police Department and do not agree with the change in the budget. It will only hurt the department and the citizens the department serve and protect.

The Phoenix Police have FAILED our community. Phoenix Police currently are not required to first try and de-escalate a situation before using force. Phoenix Police are do not currently have a ban on choke holds and strangleholds. Phoenix Police are currently allowed to shoot at moving vehicles. And, the Phoenix Police policy currently does not include language that actively requires officers to exhaust other reasonable means prior to using deadly force. These funds are better spent elsewhere.

Taking money away from the Phoenix Police Department when there are already civilians on the already established review board is not right! There will be less money for training, hiring and many other things. Do not take money away from the budget!

Why, after all of this, would you decide to give the police MORE money?
The city is outraged and we are fed up and this is nothing but a slap in the face. We are asking for demilitarization. We are asking for more funding for community services. WE DO NOT WANT THE POLICE TO HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL FUNDING UNLESS IT IS FOR THE OFFICE OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY

I fully support the police, cutting their budget is so ridiculous. Why would you give less money to people who go and put their lives in danger everyday for us? I think their budget should be higher.

The Police Department needs to be fully funded! If you want a competent and quality police department, investing in resources such as training and hiring takes money. Listening to and entertaining the thought of a radical ideology of defunding the police with a baseless argument and no end game is spineless and more alarmingly it’s reactionary. Defunding the police is a slippery slope that will inevitably lead to harming the very community this idea seeks to uplift.

Look what happens to cities that don’t back their police officers. Phoenix is strong because you support us.

A major employment issue already is happening. Show disloyalty to us and the best of us will leave. I will leave.

I support funding for the police. My son is a deputy and puts his life on the line. The precinct where he works is understaffed which puts him and others in danger. Why would you ever cut funds to essential jobs....Men and women who protect us and our community?

Cutting funds from the Police dept is NOT the answer! Properly allocating the funds IS. We need to HIRE MORE OFFICERS. New officers bring in “new blood” to the department, are trained in the updated community policing procedures, and offer relief to the over-worked officers that have sacrificed for the community. Case in point: giving up their days off to protect the people protesting AGAINST them. Pass a fully-funded police department budget and support the tax payers of Phoenix.

Defunding the Phoenix PD would be a huge disservice to our community and city. The department is still recovering from the recession and hiring freeze from 2008. They are still working understaffed and continue to go and protect our city. If you are for change you can NOT be for defunding the police.

I support funding the police and adding more funding to first responders. Add more School Resource Officers and Community Based Officers to have more positive interactions with the community.

I support funding the Phoenix PD ONE HUNDRED percent. I urge you to pass the budget immediately. You are all elected officials and need to represent the majority of citizens of whom greatly depend on our police department for safety. Be true leaders during this time of conflict and an example for the country by passing the budget and supporting the Phoenix police. Thank you for your consideration.

I’m an east valley resident & I have worked in the city of Phoenix since 1996. I support FULLY FUNDING the Phoenix police department in the 2020-21 budget and beyond. It seems in times of strife we look for a “fall guy” but the police department of Phoenix is not the place to look. These men and women put their lives on the line every day for the residents & visitors of PHX in a noble effort to protect and serve. Cutting any funding devalues their work and puts our community & residents at risk

I FULLY support the Phoenix Police department and OPPOSE any and all cuts to the police department's budgets. For the last 40 years that I know of the Phoenix police department as been the most professional, forward thinking and progressive police department in the United States.Police departments world wide have looked to The Phoenix police depart as an example of how to police. Any cuts to the budget would have huge adverse effects on the well being and safety of ALL citizens of Phoenix.

Pass the proposed budget. NO OAT! Garcia wants 3 million to control the city for his own agenda. 25% cuts to necessary infrastructure would have a disastrous effect on the SAFETY of residents, businesses & guests to PHX. Adequate staffing, qualified candidates, trained and equipped officers must be funded. Crime is under control because of our hard working officers, who sacrifice their lives daily, not through hugs from the city council members.

You all on the council just want to go along with all the trendy social justice crap to make you feel virtuous and sophisticated. You don’t know a thing about policing. You need to call for the public to learn how to show respect for themselves, authority, and for the community. Each soul is responsible for his own choices—not society. Don’t blame police for criminal socialization & sociopathy. Fund the police, defund unnecessary programs. We don’t want to live with less law enforcement.

I 100% support PPD. They put their lives on the line every day for us. They are under funded and under appreciated. Please do not make it harder for them to do what they have sworn to do. Protect and Serve.
