I strongly oppose allocating over $900 million to our city's public safety department. Our community needs funds to be reallocated to programs that heal, education, and serve our fellow Phoenicians. The City of Phoenix and its citizens deserve policing alternatives that are actual investments in our infrastructure and communities -- affordable housing, healthcare, education, employment opportunities.

I am demanding the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget!

Police needs to be held accountable! And we need proper funding for the civilian board to hold them accountable! We demand 3 million dollars to be allocated because the state needs this!

I fully support the Phoenix PD. We shouldn't freeze hiring when we are already shorthanded out on the streets. These officers put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect our communities. We need to fully fund our police force and have adequate equipment along with being fully staffed. We want to make judgement on all officers but we all need their help at some point in our lives. So let's continue to support our officers so they can continue to protect and serve.

I live in a mostly Latinx neighborhood. It is usually a happy and safe place, with children playing, families gathering to celebrate, music playing, and neighbors working together to get irrigation to their gardens. The last three days there have been no children playing, no celebrations, no music. The only sound I have heard is helicopters. Increased police funding does not serve our community and the vulnerable members who live in fear of police brutality. Fund the Citizens Review Board.

I am contacting you to reconsider the proposed allocated fund to the Public Safety Department for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. I ask you to redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and invest in mental, health and trauma services, education and after school care, adequate housing, healthcare and employment opportunities. DEFUND THE POLICE!

I strongly oppose the excessive allocation of funds to Public Safety. It is readily apparent that increased spending on policing in Phoenix has not resulted in increased public safety, and that levels of violence by Phoenix PD are completely unacceptable. The comparison between spending to reinforce heavy-handed and damaging policing vs. expanding community enrichment, public housing, and vital social services reflects extremely poorly on the priorities of the City leadership.

Support our police! This funding is not only going to our policemen but our firemen as well. I’m a native to AZ and I support this funding.

I'm a Phoenix resident since 1969. I sincerely beleave we need to fully fund our Police Department. As these past days they have shown their high regard and compassion for our fellow citizens in they civil protest. And they stepped up to the plate in a very professional manner to defend our lives and property against the looters, and lawbreakers. They have worked tirelessly through this covid19 outbreak and we need to support them with the money and training to do their job. Thanks

I strongly oppose the budget and this funding for law enforcement. Instead please invest money into programs that will better our community -- healthcare, education, jobs, housing, resources for communities that are marginalized. The violence the police continually enforce onto black and POC communities is a disgrace, and they need to be held accountable.

I oppose this budget increase for the Phoenix PD. The Phoenix PD has failed in their duty to protect and serve. Instead they have become one of the most violent in the country and residents of Phx live in fear of them. Real change and safety comes from building the community up and not from fear and tear gas. The people of Phoenix are asking you to invest in them and not the continued weaponization of a group of people that are brutalizing the city. Please, do the right thing and defund the Pd.

I ask that you please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year and increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

I oppose the excess of police funding. PHXPD and ICE alliance needs to be abolished. It is crucial that excess police funding be reallocated to the true needs of this City’s people. The backbone of this City, the ones turning the wheels and keeping things moving towards a brighter future. A future of true equality. A future that needs to be made reality, now.

I oppose the proposed allocation of funds to Phoenix Police Department. Both past and recent behavior by Phoenix Police towards the community has been unacceptable and we need to divest from financially supporting this toxic and harmful presence in our neighborhoods. Invest in evidence-based methods of keeping communities safe and healthy, not further state-sanctioned violence from Phoenix Police.

I strongly oppose the amount of funding for the PHX PD. I strongly urge you to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks you that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

As a Maricopa County resident I emplore the PHX City Council to increase the budget for the OAT. Putting this office into service was a great first step, but it will mean nothing if it is not funded properly. In the last seven years of living in PHX I have seen more racism that anywhere else I have lived in the US or abroad. Allocating the proper funds to creating a safe community is what your community is asking of you. Increase the budget of the CRB to $3 million.

My name is Ayesha Vohra. I am a long time Phoenix resident and mom. Prioritize people before policing, take a stand against police violence, and commit to defund Phoenix PD. The Phoenix PD is one of the deadliest in the US. OAT and CRB only receives $400,000 in funding in the budget. They will cost $3 million. $400,000 is not enough. Ending police brutality should be a budget priority. Justice should be a budget priority. Fund the OAT with the full $3 million and defund the PD.

I beg the city to deny $1 billion for policing - compared to a meager $51.5 million for community development/enrichment. Particularly in a COVID-19 society, we need mental health, education, housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities - not more police. Phoenix Police is ranked highest nationally for police killing innocent Arizonans, namely Black/brown persons. Our communities will not be safer; we will live in more fear. Reallocate that money to our communities, not military and police.
