I oppose the $944,680,555 budget for PPD/Public Safety. The Phoenix PD has a history of violence and abuse towards black people, as well as countless other minority groups. Please reallocate funding to public programs that will promote positive change in our community for future generations to come. You as leaders have the power of history in your hands. Phoenix can lead the way to a brighter and progressive future without fear of violence if you make a stand today.

    Please do the right thing.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,741 and $26,837,104 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

Defund the Police PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

(updated) Our funds should be used to heal, protect, and educate our community, not to fund what has been documented as one of the deadliest police forces in the nation. Do NOT approve any proposed funding to Phoenix PD. Allocate 2020-21 city funds to the community and to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board.

I am opposed. I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.

The proposed $944,680,555 allocated to Public Safety should be redistributed to increase funding to programs that actually create strong, healthy communities: Health care, social workers, mental health, arts, libraries, homeless services, etc. The current $24,760,742 & $26,837,014 budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment are shameful in comparison. PhoenixPD statistically ranks highest in the US for police killings. This is not public safety. Support your community: Defund PPD.

The budgeted amount for the OAT and the CRB is far lower than the original projected budget and is inadequate. The request to increase the police dept budget is unwarranted and will only help to perpetuate the violence and mistreatment people of color are receiving in the city. Just last week Dion Johnson was murdered in his car by a police officer and there has not been any action taken. The police dept doesn't need more money, they need to be held accountable for their treatment of POC.

It's time we defund/de-weaponize the police and pour more resources and funds into our communities, specifically communities historically
and systematically marginalized. I imagine a community protection force, overseen by a citizens board with power, who live and work among those they serve; who help build communities where wellness and healing are prioritizeD, basic needs are assessed and met and people are free and supported to share their gifts/talents with each other and the community.

Please reconsider the proposed allotment that's dedicated toward funding the police force and reallocate it to budgets for community development and community enrichment. These funds would be better directed towards mental health and wellness resources for the community instead of the phoenix police department.

Divest 2020-2021 funds from the Phoenix PD and repurpose them for policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

I am asking you to reconsider the budget allocated for our public safety, especially the police. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community and to increase the proposed budgets for community development and community enrichment. The city of phoenix deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

THE PHOENIX POLICE DEPARTMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MURDERING INNOCENT ARIZONANS.

PHX PD is guilty of firing their weapons at innocent civilians, largely targeting communities and people of color, PHX PD continues to act against values of the communities they are meant to "serve" & "protect." Your constituents do not feel safe or protected by PHX PD.

We urge you to be the voice of your voters and VOTE AGAINST BUDGET INCREASE FOR PHX PD TODAY AND IN THE FUTURE to protect the lives of Arizonans.

I am writing to ask for the reconsideration of the allocation of $944,680,555 to our public safety department for the fiscal year 2020-2021. increase $24,760,742 and $26,837,014. and because of this I stand with my community in asking to defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-2021 city funds to policies and programs that create/sustain. To ensure the longevity of a safe community, I stand with my community in asking for $3,000,000 for a civilian review board to help keep officers accountable.

I urge you to reconsider the proposed $945 million for the Phoenix Public Safety Department. Instead, redirect those funds to programs that heal and educate. Increase the budgets for community development and community enrichment.

The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health, trauma services, education, after-school care, healthcare and employment opportunities. You want to see violence and crime recede? Invest in those!

The Public Safety allocation is largely disproportionate. Redirect these funds to Community Development and Community Enrichment to foster lasting change and safety for the greater Phoenix community.
