I am demanding that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021. There are unprecedented protests happening at this very moment demonstrating the lack of trust many citizens have with PPD. PPD is one of the most deadly police department in the country and must not only be defunded but investigated. Healthy communities do not have police brutality and significant distrust in public servants.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Polices forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various training have not ended police brutality. The City of Phoenix needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

I oppose the amount of funding allocated to Phoenix Police and ask that a significant amount of it be spent on community development and enrichment instead.

This money would be wasted if given to the police. Defund and demilitarize. Give the money to our schools or use it to help our homeless populations get off the streets. Black lives matter. Act like it.

The Phoenix Police Department is ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing. They terrorize and brutalize through their abuse of power. By defunding the police and investing in community development and enrichment, we prioritize and ensure that the next generation of residents truly feel they are given the equal opportunities they deserve. A community that cares about each other through equal opportunities is greater than the one that depends on police to protect the wealthy.

Our community doesn't need to spend so much money on policing services when really we need to invest in community resources: mental health services, childcare, adequate housing are just a few starting points

I am in strong opposition to an increase in the funding of the Phoenix PD. Services like education, environmental programs, and health programs are so underfunded and more funds should be allotted to programs that enhance the community. I am requesting the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board.

Year after year of begging and groveling just to be seen as a human by your own government just to have them slap you in the face with an extra $25 million to the police department truly wears the soul down in ways it seems that some of you could never fathom. It's hard to articulate just how much deep, deep SHAME you should feel for daring to try to pull such a move as a pandemic ravages our state, as cops terrorize our streets, as THOUSANDS go hungry on the streets. Fund CRB, defund cops!

I ask that you redirect funds from Phoenix Police to programs that will actually HEAL, EDUCATE and NOURISH our community. The city of Phoenix is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killings civilians. The people of Phoenix deserve well-funded alternatives and investments in mental health, trauma services, education, after-school programs, adequate and affordable housing, healthcare, employment opportunities, as well as sustainability and environmental programs.

I oppose increasing funds for law enforcement. The numbers for case closures between 2016-2019 are stagnant even with significant budget increases. Response rates for emergency services remained completely unchanged. Fund community programs and education. A community shouldn't spend more money on arresting its citizens than giving them the resources they need to succeed.

Stop the broad brush prejudice because of the “bad cop”.
