Statistically Arizona ranks as being the 3rd lowest in education and the 3rd highest in police brutality. While funds are being shuffled into police brutality, our education system is left to scramble to survive. I vehemently oppose the increase of funds to the police department and demand that those funds be allocated to our education system. The failure to do so will show Arizona’s citizens how little our government stands for us.

I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.

Reconsider the funding towards the police department. The Phoenix Police Department has one of the most cases of police killing civilians. It doesn't need a higher budget.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Please redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. They city of Phoenix deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

    Hello,

I am a resident of Phx. The disheartening level of injustice for black lives has led me to look for ways to end police brutality.I ask the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the OAT and CRB in the 2020 - 2021 budget. This will work towards dismantling systems of oppression and will be beneficial for all Phoenix residents. This should be a budget priority, and making it one should be your priority. I urge you to increase funding for the OAT in today’s vote.

    Thank you.

I oppose a budget increase for the Phoenix Police Department. I oppose any sort of budget increase that gives more money to forces that have such a concentrated history of showing disregard for the well being of the citizens they should be protecting. Please instead allocate more money to projects that benefit the community directly and improve the lives of others.

Please reconsider the rather enormous $944,680,555 budget you propose to allocate towards "Public Safety" and instead consider increasing the rather anemic $51,597,756 budget proposed for community development & enrichment. The Phoenix Police Department is known to statistically be amongst the highest in the nation responsible for civilian deaths. We the people do not need a militarized police department or any more police brutality. We ask that you fund the healing & education of our community.

I oppose the proposed budget for the 2020-21. Redirect funds & Increase the proposed budgets for community development & enrichment. The Phx PD is statistically ranked one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Stop funding police violence. As a Native American Woman business owner, a board member of Roosevelt Row & citizen, I ask you to Defund the Phoenix PD & allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies & programs that will sustain a safe community.

With regard to the proposed budget, I do not know if it should be supported in the particulars. However, I would like to express my support that our police and other first responders receive adequate pay, especially in light of all the overtime they have been called upon to work recently. I also would like to register my support for adequate funding for things that would help heal our community and engender greater trust between members of the community and police officers.

Phoenix is consistently listed among the top cities for the highest rates of police brutality and civilian killings. Funding the police force has not helped reduce these rates previously, and it won't help now. Please consider allocating the proposed $944,680,555 instead to programs that heal and educate our community. Phoenix needs investments in mental health, trauma services, education, housing, and employment, not a more militarized police force.

I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget. The police must be held accountable to the people they are intended to protect and serve.

Please reallocate public safety funds to community enrichment and community development budgets. The city of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

I absolutely oppose the $944,680,555 going to our Public Safety Department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Those funds support the police department which is statistically ranked the highest in the country for police killings. These funds should be used towards helping the community in other ways, such as overall community development, and community enrichment, all invested in trauma, mental health services, educational services, and healthcare services.

In order to move ahead as a community we need to start giving more money to communities in need rather than to police and transportation.

$944,680,555 being allocated to public safety vs $51,597,756 to community development and enrichments feels drastically disproportional, and shortsighted. If the City wants to create real change rather than just business as usual, we need to reevaluate how we help black, hispanic, asian and indigenous communities.

Reconsider the proposed the $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety dept.Increase the $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. The PHX PD is statistically ranked HIGHEST in the country for cases of police KILLING civilians. PROVEN that diversifying and implementing various trainings HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT END POLICE BRUTALITY. DEFUND THE PHX PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a SAFE COMMUNITY.

Throughout the years, it’s become prevalent that the PHX PD does not have the communities interest in mind, with their obscene racially motivated actions, and racial-profiling. I firmly suggest these funds be allocated to community development and enrichment (i.e. healthcare, education).
