The Phoenix PD is ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. The city needs and deserves policing alternatives. Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community. However, continue funding the Police Civilian Review Board. Allocate 3 million to the CRB.
I understand this is to be split between Phoenix Fire and PPD.
i do not care.
continuing to fund Phoenix Police, knowing that every police department in this nation is currently brutalizing innocent citizens, knowing that Phoenix Police is one of the most lethal departments in the nation, will place the blood of the marginalized and brutalized protestors directly on your hands.
if you have ever cared about the lives of your citizens, defund Phoenix Police now.
Phoenix has one of the most lethal PDs in the nation, and further growing and arming the force does not reduce crime or help the community. I vehemently oppose allocating $944M to Public Safety and demand the council instead place these funds in education, community engagement, infrastructure, and resources for our high homeless population.
Support the police! Police do more good every day then any one knows. Just because it isn’t broadcasted all over the news it didn’t happen. People need to think with facts instead of their feelings, if they did they would not be trying to defund the police. Keep the police funded! Keep our community safe!
I support funding for our law enforcement. Now more than ever the program will need training and officer development to evolve. Our law enforcement needs support as they put their lives on the line every day protecting our community
Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Please redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. They city of Phoenix deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
I oppose the excessive increase in the police budget, at the cost of sacrificing other programs vital to community health and well-being. The Phoenix police don't solve the problems of poverty, unemployment and violence. Adding to the budget bypasses your responsibility for creating a just and healthy society, putting men and women on both sides of the equation in danger because you lack the moral courage to make the tough choices our community needs. Defund the police, defend our community.
The PPD is statistically ranked one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Please reconsider the proposed budget allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect these funds to programs involving mental health, trauma services, education, adequate housing, healthcare and employment opportunities. These programs give minorities opportunities to truly heal and find belonging in their community.
Now, more than ever, we need our Phoenix police department to be fully staffed and available for our communities. I support our Phoenix police department.

Annual budget increases for PD has came with inadequate support to improve the communities w/ highest patrol. Reallocation of funds are imperative to improve structural inequalities. Access to quality and fair education, trauma/mental health resources, nutritious food/elimination of food deserts, quality and consistent health care . Also - monies dedicated to public safety ought to emphasize mindfulness based training, compassion fatigue support and integration of peaceful deescalation.
The Phoenix community needs to reallocate funds to alternative measures such as providing affordable healthcare, affordable housing, employment opportunities, community health outreach, education, and after-school care for working parents. Providing better community programs reduces crime. This is a completely politicized usage of city funding. Listen to the voices of your marginalized citizens!
The Phoenix Police Department is one of the most lethal in the nation. Increasing their budget will not end police brutality. Directing these funds to community development and enrichment could actually inspire change and educate/heal our community. The City of Phoenix deserves investments in mental health and trauma services, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Black lives matter, and it is time to defund the Phoenix PD and help create programs to sustain a safe community.
The Phoenix PD is statistically ranked as one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. This is unacceptable and I ask that they are defunded and de-weaponized. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various trainings have not and will not end police brutality. This money should be reallocated to policies and programs that support Phoenix communities, especially marginalized communities who the system has historically failed.
I am writing to oppose the proposed budget increase allocated to the Phoenix Police Department. Instead I propose that you redirect those funds either towards organizations that work to serve the people fairly, and that value preventative measures and restorative justice over maintaining the capitalist social order, or redirect the funds to our public schools that consistently receive less funding than schools in other states, and continue to rank low.
I urge the council to make the appropriate steps in defunding the police and allocating that money elsewhere for its own citizens. A cut would still leave them with plenty of money. We do not need a police state. Enough is enough. Change needs to be made. The amount given to the police is mind boggling and is clearly not working. Please council do the right thing. I am urging you. This is an important moment in time.

I support the budget increase as it would provide funding to hire more officers, purchase new equipment, and provide training to PPD.

Please fully fund the Civilian Review Board and re-allocate funds from the police department to community resource programs.
