I would like the City of Phoenix to reconsider their allocation of $944,680,555 to our public safety department. We should be working to stop the increasing militarization of our police and instead fund community development programs. Police review boards should also be fully funded so that police officers can be held accountable for their actions.

I feel like we should be putting this money into the education system and other programs that could benefit and heal the community, not into the police budget.

Redirect the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to the PHX PD to programs that heal, educate, and empower our community. The PHX PD is statistically ranked one of the highest in the country for cases of police brutality and murder against civilians. The city of Phoenix NEEDS and DESERVES policing alternatives, and investments in mental health and trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

The $944,680,555 budget allocated to the Phoenix Police department is completely inappropriate. Phoenix police department has ranked as one of the highest cities in civilian killings across the nation! Why should my tax dollars go towards those who swear to protect us but prove time and time again that they are doing a lousy job.Rewarding corruption when all 50 states and 14 countries are screaming out that cops are continuously causing havoc is irresponsible.

I don’t want my tax dollars spent funding the Phoenix Police Department above other services, especially since it is ranked one of the highest in the country for cases of police killings and excessive force. We need to invest in programs and services that build community, not brutalize citizens and perpetuate dysfunction and oppression. I urge you to redirect funding for the Phoenix Police Department and allocate 2020-21 funds other policies and programs.

I fully support our Law Enforcement! Please pass Budget item 44. These hard working, selfless, brave employees show up daily to do what half this world would not, could not do.

I cannot even believe that this is even a question, without our Brave men and women our city would be in grave danger.

This money would be better spent investing in programs to heal and educate the community, including healthcare, mental health, trauma, education, and after-school services.

It's time we defund/de-weaponize the police and pour more resources and funds into our communities, specifically communities historically and systematically marginalized. I imagine a community protection force, overseen by a citizens board with power, who live and work among those they serve; who help build communities where wellness and healing are prioritized, basic needs are assessed and met and people are free and supported to share their gifts/talents with each other and the community.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. I have witnessed in horror the PHX police Dept tear gas peaceful protesters. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. As a social worker I know the many benefits of strengthening a community! Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

Please redirect these funds to programs that’ll heal and educate our communities. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various trainings have not and will not end police brutality.

The city of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Please redirect money from the police to the CRB and community building. We need better communication and accountability. Let us be unified in the work of peace and justice.

I oppose the 44 Adoption of the Tentative 2020-21 Annual Budget (Ordinance S-46650). I urge that you redirect the proposed $944,680,555 allotted to our public safety department to programs that will actually heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment, including in mental health and trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

The last week has seen our police and state officers being physically violent without cause to law-abiding citizens of this state. They should receive absolutely NO increase in budget. If they need the money that bad maybe they will stop hurting people, or they could sell the body cams they haven't been using or turning on. This money NEEDS to be put into state programs that actually HELP people and improve our citizens' lives.

Please, redirect funds from Phx Police to programs that better our community. Phoenix is ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the US have proven that diversifying and implementing trainings will not end police brutality. The city of Phoenix deserves policing alternatives: investments in mental health services, after school scare, affordable housing, education, employment, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. Thank you.

I support passing the budget as is and completely funding both the Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire. Safety in the city is dependent upon fully funded departments!!!

As MSNBC reported last night, 99% of the nationwide protests are peaceful. But Phoenix Police on Sunday night exerted their muscle at the innocent and peaceful protestors in downtown Phoenix. This must stop.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to budgets for community development and community enrichment.

I ask that the City of Phoenix defund the Phoenix PD and re-allocate city funds to policies and programs that uplift and sustain our community. Phoenix needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health services, education, after-school care, housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. I ask that you increase the proposed budget for community development and enrichment and specify requirements for Phoenix PD to meet in order to regain confidence in the community.

I oppose this budget because it does not fully fund the police civilian review board- an essential first step in ending excessive police violence.
