I 100% support law enforcement. Please do not defund or reduce funds to our police departments. Please give them what they need to be safe and effective as they protect our cities.

Hello my name is David, I am asking that you reconsider the proposed $944,000 allocated for our public safety. Please redirect the funds to programs that heal the community. Phx PD is one of the deadliest in the country. The city deserves policing alternatives & investments in mental health, education, housing, health care & employment oppurtunities.

Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create a safe community. Increase the proposed budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment. Phoenix Police is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health/trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

I am against this proposal to increase the funding to the Phoenix PD. Officers have been overextending their power and using excessive deadly force towards the civilians they have been tasked with serving for too long. Please instead consider allocating these funds towards a Civilian Review Board and in other sectors in the community that really need it. Such as education, public health, homeless shelters, etc.

I strongly support the budget for our Phoenix Police Department. It is imperative to the safety of the community that we have officers enforcing the laws of Arizona and protecting citizens. Without appropriate funding, and brave officers putting their lives on the line each and every day in service to us, we are sure to have communities that are unsafe for ALL. Do what is right for our communities and fund the Police Department.

These brave men and women put their lives on the line every day for people of this city and it is appalling that we want to cut their funding. They need to be able to swiftly and safely respond to calls for help and how can that happen if there is a shortage of officers and equipment? Why risk their lives any further? I STRONGLY support the men and women that put their lives on the line every single day.

I do not approve of increasing funding for the Phoenix police department and urge you all to reconsider $944,680,555 that is going to public safety. This funding should be allocated programs to support public schools, community development, community enrichment, and to community organizations that support youth development. Research on youth development shows that social and institutional resources in the community have beneficial effects for the developing youth.

I am asking that Phoenix City Council reject this proposed budget, and engage in some serious discussions with community groups about the budget for public safety and law enforcement. I want Phoenix to drastically reduce the police budget (and police force) and invest our community's money into other options for community health, safety and well being. Keep the Accoutability Office funding in place. There are so many ways to address the vast majority of 911 calls that don't require police.

It saddens me that our PD is among the deadliest in the nation. The Council took a great step forward in passing the OAT and CRB in March. It is now time to fully fund them- 400K is insufficient; 3M is more appropriate funding for a city of our size. I urge you follow through on this commitment to our public safety and transparency.
