I 100% support this budget. Our police need to remain funded to provide optimal training, resources, and support. Our officers are out there supporting us daily, we will continue to support them!

I support the funding of the Phoenix Police Department. Funding should be used towards officer accountability, such as body cameras for all, as well as additional resources for deescalation training. Funding should also support officer retention, physical and mental assistance and support.

If you decide to defund police who have given their blood, sweat and time at a time like this you are just evil. For years Phoenix police have been running understaffed with outdated or minimal equipment for the shear size of this city!!! Their work conditions are disgraceful and they have no support from their own city council who is anti police. Support for those who put their life on linefor you. If not, remove all city council members and get a council that will keep the public safe!!

Please FUND this budget and consider increasing the safety and law enforcement amounts in the future. I am very proud of the way our law enforcement is keeping order during these turbulent times, they NEED all our full support.

PPD is already understaffed compared to similarly sized cities, w/ 20 officers per 10000 citizens. Philly has 43. I called PPD for an active break-in and it took over 2 hours before an officer could even arrive because they are so short staffed. I had a car accident at 7th and Bethany, and again over 2 hours before PD could respond. Have you ever worked somewhere short-staffed; does service get better or worse? Continuing to short staff our PD does not make things better it will make them worse.

We demand that the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. I ask that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development & community enrichment.
The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives & investments in mental health & trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, & employment opportunities.

I strongly support redirecting funds from the proposed public safety budget to alternative, non-violent programs for community enrichment.

Our Community asks that you redirect funds from Phoenix Police to programs that heal and educate our community.
The City of Phoenix is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various training have not and will not end police brutality.
The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in our future.

I am whole heartedly in support of the 44 Adoption of the Tentative 2020-21 Annual Budget (Ordinance S-46650). We are in need now more then ever for our officers to be compensated for putting their lives on the line and to keep them properly trained. Our communities need to feel connected and protected. I couldn’t imagine a world where protection wasn’t afforded. All areas need increase in support and funding, but this is not one to waiver on in order to keep Phoenix safe.

I oppose the proposed funds to the PPD and demand that these funds be redistributed to support the impoverished and minority groups, as well as to our education system and community centers. By providing more job opportunities, education, and community development to AZ communities, we can limit crime rates and ultimately limit the need for police patrolling. With more education and more jobs, people are less prone to committing crime. It’s time to be proactive, not reactive

Strongly oppose. Teachers, hospitals, homeless shelters, the unemployed due to covid and systematic racism need funding now more than ever.

I am writing to urge the defunding of the Phoenix Police Department. They have statistically proven themselves to be among the most lethal police departments in the nation and their existence is rooted in slavery enforcement and the deadly mistreatment of Native Americans. For the sake of the black lives being lost and incarcerated at unacceptably high rates, please instead invest in community programs.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment, including investments in mental health and trauma services, education, and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Mayor Gallego and City Council Members-
Thank you for your service to our community.
I oppose this budget for its lack of financial investment in the civilian review board for the police. Rather than the currently allocated $400,000, I ask that you set aside $3 million, or .4% of the police budget for this incredibly important oversight endeavor. Our city, our nation, is clamoring for justice and as Chief Williams said, “.... we have to listen to one another.” This is a critical first step.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to the public safety department for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Providing care to the community should be the main priority! Redirect these funds to after school and out of school time programming, community mental health services, EDUCATION, housing and healthcare! Support the growing number of families impacting by unemployment. Stand up again systematic racism and provide the communities with that they truly need. Defund the police!

We must defund the police, and reconsider our priorities. Investments made into mental health, parks and rec etc are essential to the well being of a society, else you are openly admitting that enforcement matters more than people's well being.
We hope the Council takes this feedback seriously and considers the ramifications of their actions. It is time you did your job, and work on behalf of those whom you represent, instead of living up to america's military industrialist complex.
