Make sure to read the report. It’s not just about police department it’s about fire department too, but both extremely dangerous professions. I have to support them. If you really want to Make a difference in the system...join it.

We must support our Phoenix law enforcers. They are a vital part of our safety and well being. They have been working tirelessly to keep our community safe during these uncertain times. Please do not take away their funding.

The only arguement presented seems to be the lack of man power, yet increasing this allocation in years past has resulted in still less responsiveness and more hostility in incidents involving black people. Please recall the incident in May 2019 involving Dravon Ames where unnecessary power of firearms was wielded because of a child's toy. This isn't the type of force that needs to be encouraged, it needs to be reformed into an organization that is beneficial to its citizens and community.

Please redirect the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Phoenix needs/deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

We demand that the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. I ask that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development & community enrichment.
The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives & investments in mental health & trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, & employment opportunities.

The city of Phoenix deserves investments in resources like mental health care, eafter-school care, affordable housing, employment opportunities, and environmental programs. None of these can be provided by a police department in a city that ranks highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. The brutality of forces across the country have shown that diversifying and implementing trainings are not enough to end police brutality.

Please fully fund OAT and CRB with $3 million. Civilian oversight of police can only be fully effective if empowered with full funding. The current suggestion of $400,000 is insufficient for full oversight over a $721 million department. Especially given our city's history of officer-involved shootings, it is long past time to make ending police brutality a budget priority. Fully funding civilian oversight will create independent, investigative, transparent, community-driven results.

I strongly oppose this budget and a multi-million dollar increase to fund Phx PD. It is unconscionable that the budget for this deadly police force is already this large, and unthinkable there is a proposed increase in the middle of a pandemic. Direct the funding towards public health, community development, housing, and programs that actually support our residents. With the proposed increase alone you can hire 400 social workers instead of 200 police.

I ask that you decrease funding to the Phoenix police and redirect to programs that positively influence our community. Our "public safety" doesn't need this much funding when education, community development, domestic violence programs and shelters, healthcare for low-income citizens, mental health assistance and child care assistance need it the most.

Please don't pass this budget. You will be doing more harm to our state than helping us.

Please fully fund the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget. The people deserve better from the City of Phoenix and police department, and the CRB is critical.

The above ordinance demonstrates a clear discrepancy in the priorities of our states government. While public safety is an essential part of a functioning society statistics have show that AZ police are dangerous to the citizens they are sworn to protect. Nearly $1 billion in funds vaguely marked for public safety dwarf the less than $50 million promised to community improvement that would work to prevent the need for police action. Please bring these expenses closer together before adopting.

Define the police! I want my tax dollars to be used to help the community such as community centers, fixing the road in the west side, schools in the west and south side of Phoenix! I do not want my money to be given to murderous cops! I want my community to be given the chance to greatness and that can not be done by giving the Phoenix police more money so they can come to the west and south side to profile and kill black and brown lives! Defund the police! Defund the police! Defund the police!

I oppose the proposed budget cuts to oversight & accountability while using taxpayer dollars to fund lethal police violence rooted in systemic racism. If budget cuts are needed, perhaps the City of Phoenix could stop purchasing paramilitary toys for officers to play with at the expense of civilian lives. Any public funds given to police must be contingent upon a fully-funded Office of Accountability and Transparency and/or Civilian Review Board.

These brave men and women put their lives on the line every day for people of this city and it is appalling that we want to cut their funding. They need to be able to swiftly and safely respond to calls for help and how can that happen if there is a shortage of officers and equipment? Why risk their lives any further? People get so upset it takes them a while to respond to 911 calls, what do they think will happen if funding is cut and less officers are responding?? Please don't cut funding!!

Defund the militarization if Phoenix PD. The police in Phoenix increasingly act as a militarized force whose only purpose is to keep people quiet. No justice. No accountability. People are starving and dying on the streets. Sell the Police Department's tanks and use the money to house the homeless during the pandemic and after. Use the money to actually help the community. The community that the government has never shown any consideration for before. We will not stand for this neglect anymore.

Defund the police. You are disproportionately giving them resources when we are lacking in so many areas like housing, education, and public health. We are in the middle of a pandemic and our hospitals do not have the resources to keep our people healthy and safe. I also demand that Phoenix City Council fully funds CRB and OAT. We cannot fund the deadliest police force in the nation while keeping power away from citizens. Crime rates lower when people have education, public health, and community

I strongly support funding the Phoenix Police department. A well funded department is crucial to the safety and well-being of the community.

I encourage you not to make decisions based on emotional charged responses and opinions. I agree we need to work to finding a solution, but hastily cutting off funding from already understaffed and underappreciated PD will only make things worse. You'll loose good officers in the process. Look at what happened in Scottsdale - there wasn't enough police presence and they were criticized. If you under-fund Phoenix, you will hear those comments much more frequently.
