Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. I ask that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development & community enrichment.
The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives & investments in mental health & trauma services, education, after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, & employment opportunities.
Please redirect funds from the police to alternative programs that strengthen and protect communities nonviolently. The Phoenix police force is one of the deadliest in the nation toward its residents. This must be rectified by defunding the police in favor of more peaceful means of serving and protecting Phoenix residents of all ethnicities and backgrounds.
I demand that the Phoenix City Council fully funds OAT and CRB with $3 million.
$400,000 is not enough resources for OAT to guarantee full oversight over a $721 million dollar police department. City Council needs to give the community the civilian oversight power we were promised!
Ending police brutality should be a budget priority. Justice should be a budget priority. Without oversight, there will be no consequences.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. We need to focus on the community, a better future for the next generations. Better education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Arizona is ranked one of the lowest in education. We ask to increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014. Defund Phx PD and allocate 2020-21 funds to educate and better our community.
Can you imagine the City of Phoenix with no law and order? I understand the pressure of fear and discrimination but these men and women go to work everyday, put their lives on the line, and deal with issues many of us will never understand! Yet they do it everyday because they took an oath and believe in their work and their communities! Please fund public safety and consider adding more funds to cover education and community relations!
Public police departments are an integral part of our communities. Without our peace keeping officers we will see MORE hurt and destruction, not less. On top of that, any problems we see with the police are a sign that they need more support and training, not less. Cutting police funding will hurt the readiness of the police department, their ability to train properly, and their ability to help safeguard out communities. Pass police funding now!
The men and women if the Phoenix Police Department have worked tirelessly to keep our city safe. We are the 5th largest city in the country, we can not afford to defund our Police Department. We are already understaffed, and have been working under minimum staffing since 2008. These men and women put their lives on the line each and everyday to keep our city, out loved ones safe. I do not support the defunding of our Police Department and believe it would have negative affects for years to come.

I urge our council members to please cut the funding towards the police and allocate the funds to the Office of Accountability and Transparency, the Civilian Review Board and to programs that heal and educate black communities and communities of color. Please increase the budgets for community development and community enrichment. Time and time again have the communities of marginalized groups faced adversity in terms of discrimination and lack of funded initiatives that uplifts the community.

Please do not approve the budget for public safety. The Phoenix police is one of the most violence police forces in the country. This does not make me feel safe, and I can see I am not alone in that. Please reallocate the funding toward domestic violence programs and shelters, healthcare initiatives for low-income citizens, increased availability of social workers and mental health assistance, and childcare assistance.
Our community asks to redirect funds for the Phoenix police to programs that heal, educate and empower our community.
The city of Phoenix is statistically ranked highest in the country for police killing. Police forces across the country have proven that diversification and other trainings have not and will not end police brutality.
Instead direct funds to uplift the community. Education. Mental Health and trauma services. Adequate and Affordable housing.
I oppose the $944 million budget. Redirect funds to policing alternatives, mental health and trauma services, education, after-school care, housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. We do not need a more militarized police force. Help empower our citizens and fight against systematic racism. Defund the police!!
The PHX police has 6500 members in it, all with great equipment and weapons meant to “keep the peace”. Meanwhile our health care workers, who are risking their lives to save others, are working with the bare minimum and counting on donations in some parts. This money can be better used

DO NOT continue to fund the Phoenix police department. They are violent, they do not protect the community, they do not obey the laws. Put tax payer money toward actually improving our community. Fund education, Public transportation, public services, but DO NOT FUND VIOLENT POLICE
Please redirect the funds to the community. We do not need to provide an already emboldened police department with more money. We need to put that money into our education system, housing, and providing food and healthcare to those who cannot afford it. If people’s basic needs in our city must be met!
