Defunding the PD would be an absolute disservice to the community! Training and hiring good applicants requires money! These men and women throw on the uniform every day never knowing what they are going to encounter. They see things and endure things no one should have to. Do not make this job harder than it already is. If anything, you should be giving them more money to ensure they have the right tools for the job. If you think you can do it better, drop an application. I hear they're hiring.

Please act now to bring peace and justice to Phoenix - vote to add $2.5 million from the contingency fund to fund the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board. We must do everything we can to improve police accountability and policies to save lives of people of color and build trust between police and the community. Our community will be safer, more productive, and more united.

First responders already work with outdated broken equipment. The fire at 7th ave and Grant st on 06/07 required both fire, police and the 911 call centers were bogged down with calls.

I oppose the current budget and urge that you reallocate a majority of the funds allocated for PPD to public services. The current budget would spend more on the PD than on the library, Parks & Rec, the Convention Center, HHS, the Office of Art and Culture, Planning and Development, housing, Community & Economic Development, neighborhood services, PCDIC, and the court combined. PDs that have implemented increased training have not seen a decrease in brutality. Direct the money to our community.

If you think we need less PD you need to think about serious crimes, like home invasions, robberies, active shooters, etc. Who do you think is going to help you or your family in the worst moments in your life? Will the arts dept or the librarians come help you in a major car accident?

I’m a 5th generation native to Arizona. My brother is Phoenix PD, my father before him, and so on. My brothers wife’s father is PD. I have been active duty for the past 5 years, I support and I always will support my homes and anyone else’s communities police officers. My entire family served in one way or another. Do not take their livelihood away from them.

I respectfully request that you pass the budget as it is. Do not take any of the proposed budget funds from police and fire. If Mr. Garcia does not want police, please do not police his district and we will all happily use those officers in our districts. Law enforcement is absolutely necessary in order to have a civilized society. Change the review boards we currently have to have more civilians, and civilian input. There is no reason to have three boards doing the same thing.

Defund the police, fund programs that are proven to prevent crime instead. Phoenix needs community solutions, not lethal punishments.

The General Buget Public Safety ($944,680,555) & Appropriation Budgets ($40,708,104) Protection, ($30,293,383) Public Safety Enhancement ($81,176,992) Public Safety Expansion & a percentage unknown of ($74,837,078) City Improvement Fund all toward the Police & Fire Departments adds up over One Billion Dollars. Less money has been Budgeted for Public Housing, Education, Community Services, Development, Enrichment & Investment. None for Mental Health & Addition & Police Reform. I Strongly oppose

I do not support additional funding for OAT. Pass the budget without any cuts to Public Safety. Maybe cut the patrol responses to Carlos Garcia’s District. That would help officers availability for all the other calls that are left waiting because of the shortage

I support the Phoenix police department! I believe they love ALL lives and want to keep the community safe . I support accountability, training and working together. Don’t defund the police. Fund other helpful mental services as well do not take away the police
