The Phoenix PD has demonstrated through their actions that they are incapable of policing themselves. Supporting the men and women in blue means a smaller police department focused on the problems policing can actually solve. We are asking the police to do too much, and that is not support. Resources should be reallocated from the Phoenix PD tactical units towards social services, healthcare, education, first response, and civilian oversight.

I support the proposed budget. Those who argue to defund the police department here in PHX and elsewhere are being used and duped. They can't imagine a city with a severely underfunded or nonexistent police department because they've never lived through it. You DO NOT WANT THAT. Look at the ACTUAL statistics of what the police departments do to keep the law and order in this country instead of what you're being lead to believe by misleading news reports. Make decisions based on logic not fear.

Increasing the Phx PD budget by $25 million in today's environment is both financially and socially irresponsible. With the awareness that has surfaced with recent events, now more than ever is the time to really examine our system and start implementing lasting positive changes. We need more mental health professionals in the community working in conjunction with cops, housing for the homeless, blue collar jobs, affordable childcare, funding to non-profit agencies, rehabilitation programs, etc

Fund the community first. Allocate funds to community resources for housing, mental health, youth outreach, etc. Prioritize communities over policing

Please reallocate funds from the overbloated police budget and move it over to affordable housing, human services, community and economic development. Please invest in the people!!

Please reallocate public safety funds back into our communities and education. Demilitarize our police.

I oppose this budget plan. Please reallocate funds from Phoenix PD to community programs, education, healthcare and any other programs that will promise safety and a overall sense of well-being and support from our local government.

We need to support of men and women in blue, defunding them would be a display of ignorance. The citizens of Phoenix deserve better. The lack of respect demonstrated by some city councilmen and women, and now by the public is a disgrace to the the sacrifices made by our first responders. I’m a Phoenix native, and have lived in district 8 my entire life. District 8 needs more police patrolling our streets. Anyone who thinks differently is either a criminal or doesn’t live here. God Bless Phx.

This police budget is egregious, specifically when studies show that specialized social services have better results and better costs. Stop paying increasingly outsized budgets for a police that has shown to lead the country in murdering civilians. Fund social programs and redirect this money to public services, including our underfunded schools. It's not that difficult, I dumbfounded how you refuse to understand this. Except for DiCiccio, has has proven time and again to be an idiot.

Is time to pass the budget as is. Don't cave to those who continue to bully, harass, and intimidate to get their way, and who clearly have no clue what our officers go through to keep the city safe. Worse, they don't care and are only pushing false narratives and an anti-cop agenda. You as councilmembers have a duty to pass a budget on time, use fiscal prudence based on current data) to make decisions, and keep ALL city residents safe - including the majority of us who support law enforcement.

I strongly oppose increasing funding for Phoenix PD. They are a violent and racism institution that harms, incarcerates, and kills our Black and Brown neighbors. Money must be allocated to social services and community resources instead.

I oppose the budget on the grounds that PHX PD has been given funding for body cams and more training in the past and yet continue to commit acts of violence against the community. Consider reallocating funding to community enrichment such as more educational programing in parks and libraries, more environmentally conscious transportation, and public housing and helping homeless. PLEASE give to a community that is hurting and bolster it (which leads to less crime and less need of PD).

I demand that the City Council vote NO on the 2020-21 budget on June 17th. Phoenix needs to invest more in communities, not an increase in funding the police who terrorize them. Especially in the middle of a pandemic, only $242 million to housing, human services, and community development is NOT enough. The $745 million spent by the city council on policing should be allocated to mental health and youth programs and community development.

$400k to fund an Office of Accountability and the Civilian Review Board is a transparent attempt to stifle the public outcry with an insufficient measure. This council is complicit in 7 Phoenix Police shootings this year, and sets an example for Maricopa County who collectively hold 27 Police shootings this year. This council must at minimum reallocate the $25m proposed increase to PHX PD to the CRB and housing, human services, and community development. Lead the effort or lose your seat.

Our community is crying for help and the last thing that we need to do is use OUR tax paying dollars to fund the police. Reallocate the funds to help the community and defund the police. There is no need to fund the violent behavior of law enforcement. We demand action.

With every fiber of my being, I vehemently OPPOSE increasing funding for the PHX PD. That money should be invested back into bettering the community such as training on de-escalation, education, mental health resources, and helping homeless. THIS MONEY SHOULD NOT GO TO THE TERROR ORGANIZATION KNOWN AS THE PHX PD.

I oppose the proposed budget. Defund the police and redistribute the funds into the community by supporting education, housing and healthcare. We are in a pandemic we need to take care of each other and stop giving money to murderers. Defund the police now!

The last thing this extremely violent police force needs is more APCs, grenade launchers for tear gas, and weapons of any kind. Invest in the community and in particular the black community.

I oppose the proposed budget. And propose money be allocated to invest in our communities through education, healthcare and social services and not in through the policing and terrorizing of Black and POC communities.
