During this pandemic that has no end in sight, our national and state-level leadership has completely failed us. We can do better as a city. Please take the proposed $25 million increase for Phoenix Police and redistribute it to fund police alternatives, mental health and trauma services, education, after-school care, housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Police never have and never will address these problems.

I'm a resident of district 8 and I remand that the City Council vote NO on the 2020-2021 budget. Funds should be reallocated and poured into the communities that feel the drought of lack of resources. Housing, arts programs, mental and behavioral health support, rehabilitation services, food services, and other support institutions should be supported with our dollars instead. I strongly oppose this budget.

City Council, vote NO on the 2020-21 budget on Jun 17th. Phoenix needs equity-based support for the health and wellbeing of it's citizens and not an increase in police funding. Especially in the middle of a pandemic, only $242 mil to housing, human services & community development is NOT enough. The $745 mil spent by the council on policing should be moved to entities & individuals that work to dismantle/dissolve the themes that marginalize/oppress & to the adversely impacted communities.

Our communities strongly feel that the proposed budget DOES NOT represent our needs. We do not need $96,000,000 allocated towards police force, while community services, community development, and human services receive less than 30,000,00 each. We strongly suggest that resources given to police force be reallocated to mental health services, community programs, affordable housing, after-school care, and employment opportunities.

I strongly oppose the budget for Phoenix PD. As, citizens of this community we do not feel protected. A raise in the police budget is a slap in the face to every protestor and lost life at the hands of the police. We have made our outrage heard and it is time for our council members to not just listen but ACT. Vote no, we want resources for the homeless, more mental health training, more money for education and social services. Things are not working and not reformable as they stand.

As a long time city of Phoenix citizen, I can honestly say that I have never felt safe whenever I see a police officer geared up like they are going to war. I live a multi-cultural part of Phoenix that is in dire need of funding for its schools and community. Militarizing our police force even will not make any situation better. I want our future to be more prosperous and safe. Through education, this can be done. Mayor Gallego, I voted for you and expected more than this. Don't be a sellout.

I’m a Phoenix homeowner in district 7 and I demand that the City Council vote NO on the 2020-21 budget. Community and social services have been starved of funding, while the police budget increases every year. $242 million to housing, human services, and community development is not enough. 25% of the money spent by the council on policing should be moved to affordable housing, mental health support, addiction services, and the root causes of inequality in Phoenix.

As a resident of Phoenix, a voter, and a taxpayer, I demand we hold more accountability not only to the police but the budget as well. This is not only irresponsible but completely irrational to accept this budget. Arizona just defunded ARTS programs that was built to help the community. We cannot be ok with defunding art and giving more money to police. I strongly oppose to this budget and will do everything I can to make sure anyone who approves it is voted out of office come next election.

The community, healthcare, and education desperately need these funds, the police do not. Please re-allocate the budget towards the funds that need it, we are still #1 in police killings and #1 in COVID cases in the country. You have the power to help us. Defund the police.

I strongly urge the members to reconsider this agenda. Listen to the voices of those who are working tirelessly in the community providing services of all kinds to people in need. This is the time that this budget of $744 million can be cut down and redistributed to healthcare clinics, mental health resources, homelessness organizations, substance abuse programs, and better funding for our school system.

Please listen to us when we say this budget is not a solution. It will inevitably enable systemic trauma and violence against our most vulnerable. Believe in our vision of a community that invests in our wellbeing. Defund Phoenix PD.

I oppose this budget. Even considering an increased Phoenix police budget during this pandemic is ridiculous. Funds should be redistributed to our communities that are struggling so much at this time. The police do little to nothing to keep our communities safe. The funds should be redistributed to health and education programs and small business pandemic relief assistance.

The people of Phoenix and all of Arizona are not protected by the police. The Phoenix police force is a corrupt and violent institution that operates on a system of racial and economic bias. They must be defunded and the funds ought to be reallocated to community programs that actually help people such as mental health services, housing for unsheltered folks, victims of sexual violence help programs. All of which the phxpd harm instead of help. This must be an immediate action for our safety.

As a constituent I strongly opposed agenda item #24 and request that the Phoenix city council does NOT adopt the current budget. I demand the budget be denied until the $25 million increase to police departments is reallocated to community development funds or community enrichment. In light of ongoing events it is unacceptable to adopt a budget which underfunds the programs that make our community stronger, while increasing the budget of Phoenix police who have had a history of brutality.

An increase of $25 M to the PHX PD does not make our communities safer. We need investments in education, affordable housing, job training, mental health and trauma services, and drug addiction rehabilitation. Please vote no on an increase to the PHX PD, and please invest in social services that help us care for our community members.

I oppose this budget and demand that the city of phoenix divest from the police department and reallocate funds to community development and enrichment, environmental services, transportation, housing and education.

As a Phoenix resident, it is astounding that a disproportionate amount of funds are allocated to Phoenix PD and not invested in the health, social, and educational programs. We don’t need militarization that targets underserved communities. We need to support these communities in every way possible. Redirect 25% of Phoenix PD budget toward other programs that support the health, education, and community enrichment.
