The $25 mil increase for the police in this budget is a slap in the face to all those who have called for you to be thoughtful about building a community that is thriving and healthy. Your cowardice in the face of the police union will not be forgotten! You had an opportunity to partner to make our community better instead of more violent and you wasted it.

How can you justify a large budget like this for police in the middle of a pandemic that has devastated our communities?! We need money allocated to the people through housing, food resources, childcare, healthcare, and education rather than wasted on a mob of individuals who think they're above us and the law. Defund the Phoenix PD and finally prioritize our communities before your personal interests and capital.

I am opposing the city of Phoenix budget as it stands. I am disturbed that there continues to be issues in infrastructure and a lack of community programs, with the argument that we do not have the funds. I am a taxpayer in Phoenix and am very disturbed by how much goes to Phx police in comparison with the rest of the budget. It is negligent that you find police more important than housing! Or more important than human services! Do you even care about your residents?! Show us and defund PHX PD

Please vote no on $744 million for the police. To truly protect and serve the community, we must invest those dollars in housing, health, education, the arts and environmental sustainability initiatives.

The police budget needs to pass. Those men & women are under paid and risk their lives daily for us and we need to feel safe! There will be more blood shed on our streets if you defund police. My brother served 23 yrs in Phx PD and it wasn't an easy job. Men & Women in Blue deserve recognition!!!!!

Take funding from corrupt and bigoted police departments that do not protect public safety and invest in implementing programs and resources to lift up and support disadvantaged groups in order to provide relief and equity to those whom need it most. Status quo is unacceptable.

Protect our neighborhoods and do not turn us into a city like Minneapolis. We are facing violence from groups who want to legalize criminal behavior and destruction. The police force is already understaffed, this is not a time to defund them.

I am opposing the budget increase and believe that the city needs to defund its police force and invest in community resources.

“Show me your budget and I will tell you what you value.”

Invest in the community, not in the continued militarization of a police force already fully capable of terrorizing the citizens they’re supposedly charged with protecting and serving.

    DEFUND CITY OF PHOENIX POLICE!!
Reallocate this money to new entities trained and specialized for each task.
The Phoenix police And especially district 4 refuse to enforce even the simplest of laws in neighborhoods. Laura Pastors office condones the willful neglect to enforce laws. If they can’t even help a neighborhood of 3 city blocks why are we as taxpayers helping?? And furthermore why should we trust they can handle anything bigger??

I strongly oppose ordinance 46715. Defund Phoenix police and use taxpayer dollars to fund schools, after school programs and community enrichment.

I strongly oppose this proposed budget and urge council members to vote NO on this measure. We have one of the deadliest police forces in the country, we should not be rewarding that with a police budget that dwarfs all other department budgets. This money needs to serve the people. The police have not been serving the people. This money needs to be allocated to education, homelessness, community outreach, social work and mental health services. Our community needs the funding.

The nation’s deadliest police force doesn’t need more money. We need to invest in our community NOT the police. We should be using the funds to help not harm.

I do NOT support this budget, We need a budget that prioritizes people not police. Please do not approve this budget, it is time to fund the programs and services that will help, not continue to expand the police who already take up 42% of the City's budget. We should NOT be increasing the police budget right now - we should be decreasing police services and increasing the kind of support services that make police less necessary.

I oppose the budget. I oppose on the sole reason that the Police receive too much money to use to continue to systematically abuse, brutalize, intimidate, and harm the citizens they are sworn to protect. I would rather see my taxes go towards serving my community through greater access to health and education services. Let’s defund the police much like we’ve been defunding the schools for decades.

    Hello,
I strongly oppose this budget increase. If this passes our community will be in more harm than it already is. It is unsafe to all residents, especially black residents who are being killed with these budget increases. We are losing lives everyday to your lack of proper funding to schools and education, mental health, housing and community enriching programs. A vote yes on this budget will continue to kill our community. Please vote no.

I respectfully demand that the city vote NO on the 2020/2021 budget. This money needs to serve the people. The police have not been serving the people. This money needs to be allocated to education, homelessness, community outreach, social work and mental health services. Our community needs the funding. The PD repeatedly abuses their power. They do not deserve to serve our community respect or with dignity. Take this money and allocate it toward the hard working people of our community.

I oppose the budget allotment for PD. Our budget should prioritize healthcare and education services rather that an institution that uses excessive public funds to brutalize and intimidate our citizens.
