How can you justify a large budget like this for police in the middle of a pandemic that has devastated our communities?! We need money allocated to the people through housing, food resources, childcare, healthcare, and education rather than wasted on a mob of individuals who think they're above us and the law. I am opposing the city of Phoenix budget as it stands. I am disturbed that there continues to be issues in infrastructure and a lack of community programs, with the argument that we do not have the funds. I am a taxpayer in Phoenix and am very disturbed by how much goes to Phx police in comparison with the rest of the budget. It is negligent that you find police more important than housing! The police budget needs to pass. Those men & women are under paid and risk their lives daily for us and we need to feel safe! There will be more blood shed on our streets if you defund police. My brother served 23 yrs in Phx PD and it wasn't an easy job. Men & Women in Blue deserve recognition!!!!!
Take funding from corrupt and bigoted police departments that do not protect public safety and invest in implementing programs and resources to lift up and support disadvantaged groups in order to provide relief and equity to those whom need it most. Status quo is unacceptable.
Protect our neighborhoods and do not turn us into a city like Minneapolis. We are facing violence from groups who want to legalize criminal behavior and destruction. The police force is already understaffed, this is not a time to defund them.

It is unsafe to all residents, especially black residents who are being killed with these budget increases. We are losing lives everyday to your lack of proper funding to schools and education, mental health, housing and community enriching programs. I respectfully demand that the city vote NO on the 2020/2021 budget. This money needs to serve the people. The police have not been serving the people. This money needs to be allocated to education, homelessness, community outreach, social work and mental health services. Our community needs the funding. The PD repeatedly abuses their power.
