The loudest voices are the ones cheering for a Police free future. I would bet that the majority of people, myself included, don't want this. Just because we aren’t coming up with catchy slogans and chants doesn’t mean we support this insane idea of a world without people to enforce and maintain the laws of this state. Please don’t listen to this loud and mainly, misinformed mob. Fund the public safety of this community that we’re all apart of.

This proposed budget is appalling. In order to better our communities we need more resources, NOT more police and the violence that comes with them.

We the people do not want the police to receive any increase in their budget. You are there to represent us and we demand this allocated money to invest in areas the community needs. Some examples are Environmental services, Community outreach/enrichment, Transportation. AZDES website needs an overhaul, it’s current state is completely outdated. The community needs a more effective tool to access the resources that are meant to help us especially in crisis like today.

PHXPD has continuously proven itself to be a cruel, corrupt, violent, and racist weapon of the state used against its people. PHXPD is funded by people that work hard for their money. PHXPD is funded by people it is supposed to protect. PHXPD instead harasses, hunts, corals, and kills those people. PHXPD does not need and does not deserve the vast majority of our cities financial resources. Put that money into social services where it belongs.

I am not in support of the 2020-21 budget proposal. There are many examples of police being oppressive and unable to de-escalate situations. $242 million for housing, human services, and community development combined pales in comparison to the $745 million for police. It is essential that you vote NO and redistribute the funds to rehabilitation services, employment opportunities, and our public education system. We need to invest in the future, not in unreliable police.

Story after story have come into light about the Phoenix Police Department and the Mesa Police Department using unnecessary force to handle low risk situations while being loaded with a gun and continuing to kill innocent life’s. The funds they’re getting are obviously not preparing them, so now it is OUR time to demand change! And for funds to go into the education system, for community centers, group homes, and for mental/health services as well. It is time for our voices to be heard.

I oppose this budget, defund the police department and increase funding for education, mental health services and adequate housing.

Please allocate money from the police budget into other programs and services that would benefit the community. The community is begging for a change that would uplift and support its members and allow for growth and healing. Your job is to be the voice of the people and the people are asking YOU to defund the police.

Once again our and your community City Council ask that you oppose this current budget proposal. It is clear that in these trying times, our city would most benefit from a reallocation of funds from the city's police department to community development and enrichment, environmental services, transportation, as well as housing and education.

We do not need more money for police, we need to invest in education, housing, jobs, transportation, food & health services. Police do not prevent crimes, they are a reactive force. We must invest in preventative measures and support systems that will truly curb crime by allowing our communities to thrive. Policing is not the answer. Building safer communities starts with providing us with the resources we need to be resilient. Invest in us, not against us.

The 700 million that will be used to fund the Phoenix PD should and can be used for plenty of other things to better our communities especially the black and brown communities. As a black woman I fear not only for mine but future generations livelihoods because the Phoenix pd have proven time and time again that they cannot fulfill their duty in protecting us.

Once again, we ask for the City Council to defund to police. The yearly 3% increase of $25million is against the people's wishes. Reallocate the police's funds into Community Development/Enrichment, Environmental Services, and Transportation. Put money into expanding employment, safe housing, resolving food insecurity, mental/physical health services, and education. CRB is absolutely not enough and a (proven ineffective) reform at police accountability. We want defunding and divesting. Vote NO.

I oppose item 24 on the agenda. I strongly urge the City Counsel to Vite no one the 20-21 budget. What Phoenix needs is housing options, not more police to clean up the streets. People are less likely to commit crimes or use drugs when they have stable housing. When a person has stable housing they can then contribute to the economy and help it grow. If you truly wanted to clean up the streets of Phoenix you would invest more into housing and education. Please listen to the people. Help us.

The city of Phoenix needs to FULLY FUND civilian oversight of the police force and actively redirect funds away from the police and into communities. This must include an investment in housing, health care, education, free and improved public transit options, and resources for small businesses and our undocumented communities. Public safety cannot be achieved through the perpetuation of police brutality by continual funding of a racist police system.

Nothing will happen because anyone who supports the excessive funding of the police directly benefits from it. Stop this now.Talk about being American, we're number one in the worst catergories. Worst education, highest incarceration rates per capita, not to mention COVID-19 cases. Ultimately and unfortunately, the budget will be approved and you all will be personally accountable for being on the wrong side of history.

I oppose agenda item 24 and demand that the City Council vote NO on the 2020-21 budget. Our communities are tired of having social issues responded to by police, and having otherwise solvable issues of need escalated to violence because our police are trained to show up heavily armed and "eliminate the threat.". Our communities are tired of being constantly treated as "the threat". Spending $745 million on policing is wrong when we should be spending on community and economic development.

I demand that the City Council vote NO on the 2020-21 budget on June 17, 2020. Phoenix needs more funding for educational programs, not an increase in police funding. Especially in the middle of a pandemic, only $242 million to housing, human services, and community development is NOT enough. The $745 million spent by the council on policing should be moved to education and community development. The police don't deserve to be rewarded for their lack of humanity.

I oppose the proposed budget. I urge city counsel to defund the police and disperse the funds to better benefit and improve the community. You have the ability and duty to make a positive change within our community.

The funding of our communities versus the funding of the Police Department is staggering. A city is only as strong as its community. Our cities first priority should be investing in our community. Reallocate!

This budget should not be approved when the funds can be used to serve the people of Phoenix. This money should be used to increase funding for education, healthcare, rehabilitation, public transportation, homelessness, and other key things that will help communities. Fund the communities of Phoenix not the broken system that is PHXPD. The residents of Phoenix are speaking up and we are watching closely. Do the right thing. Vote NO.
