I oppose this budget and the high amount allotted to the Phx Police Department. More funds need to go into investing in our community. The budget needs to invest in programs that support mental health, affordable housing, safe and affordable after school programs, education, affordable medical and health services. These are investments that will provide long-term benefits and reduce crime.
I strongly oppose increasing the police budget. We should be investing this money in our community by funding education, housing assistance and mental health services.
As a Phoenix resident, I oppose an increase in the Phoenix Police budget. Please invest this money back into the community in the form of public housing, mental health, education, transportation, rehabilitation services, etc.
We deserve a real investment in our communities. That doesn't mean policing Black and brown folks to death. It means redistributing funds to mental health services, youth programs, adequate and affordable housing, and so much more. The money this current budget feeds into the police department shows that our priorities are all wrong. As a resident of Phoenix, I'm counting on every member of the city council to understand the power you have in uplifting and supporting our communities.
I am a Phoenix resident and I oppose an increase in the Phoenix police budget. It is disproportionately high relative to what is given to housing, healthcare services, transportation, sustainability, etc. The community of Phoenix wants better funding for community resources! Better education and more resources for mental health will lead to less crime.. invest in education and mental health and we will not need a police budget as preposterous as proposed.
Please vote no on this budget increase. We do not need more money going to police who abuse their power and kill innocent civilians on a regular basis, especially civilians of color. More money needs to be allocated to the community and programs that aid the PEOPLE. Programs that support education, mental health, food banks, etc. Now is the time to support and fund the community and defund the police.
I strongly oppose this budget. Housing, community arts programs, schools, mental and behavioral health support, rehabilitation services, and other support institutions desperately need these funds, the police do not. I urge you to consider reallocating funds to increase community support to help our city thrive.
Funding the police is a vital component of bringing our communities and the policing community together. Applying more funding to police will enable better training, and more opportunities for positive police interaction with the community. School Resource Officers should be funded and extended to each school in Phoenix. Not only do they prevent crime on school grounds, they provide a bridge between the students and the police. They allow the students to interact with police on a daily basis.
These funds need to be redirected to the community, healthcare, and education. For years Arizona has been one of the worst states for education and access to healthcare. This is detrimental for not only physical but mental health.
Another $740 million dollars on police and only $300 million on schools. We are LAST in the nation for per pupil spending!! We beg you to prioritize our children for ONCE! Defund the police and reallocate the resources to places we actually need!
I am a Phoenix resident in district 8 and I oppose an increase in the Phoenix police budget. It is disproportionately high relative to what is given to housing, healthcare services, transportation, sustainability, etc. The community of Phoenix wants better funding for community resources. This is how we have a safer community- not more policing.
I live in Phoenix Council District 7. All residents should expect a reciprocal relationship with the City but many parts of Phoenix are over-policed while lacking in vital community services. I oppose the proposed budget. Do not allocate $744 million for the Phoenix Police Department. My faith community promotes justice, equity, and compassion in human relations, with collective responsibility for equity. Residents know how to create a more sustainable City. I listen to them and you must, too.
I strongly oppose and demand that city council votes no on the proposed budget. As a citizen of Phoenix who will be voting for the first time this year, I want those on city council to represent me and my community. We do not want more funding for police. We want the increase in phx pd funds to go towards community projects and services that enrich and assist those in the city. Not a department that repeatedly murders minorities and throws the disadvantaged in cages. DEFUND PHOENIX POLICE
We demand a new budget that seeks to repair the damage that has been done to our city by a violent and racist police force. We seek a budget that reflect what our community needs: care and support and education. Do not increase or maintain the police budget and reallocate the money to community services such as healthcare, housing, employment services, education.
I oppose the budget and demand the City Council vote NO on the 2020-2021 budget for the Phoenix Police department. Things clearly do not work. Only $242 million has been allocated to housing, human services and community development. Reconsider lifting the budget on these items to increase the community and support individuals to better function in our society. Significantly reduce the $745 million for police funding. Stop depending so much on an under-qualified group of people
Fully fund the OAT and CRB. I can’t believe we have to revisit this again. Also reduce the police budget. Slash it and invest in education and community enrichment. Listen to the people in your city. We want a better community, not more police.

Reallocate police funds to meet the needs or members of the community! No more militarization or the police! No more abuse of power!
