Whether you like it or not we have a freedom of choice on what we put on. Whether you agree or not about someones choice, its still their right. 7.279 million people in AZ, 43,443 confirmed cases = .0059% of the population. You don't get to control a free people based on such a low percentage and fear mongering tactics. When will it stop? Are you going to try and force it ever flu season next?

Oppose - many of the reasons already listed here & to add that it makes it more difficult for a healthy, organic-eating, exercising person to breathe if said person has a very deviated septum and allergies. adding the masks makes that person breathe through mouth more - do research on mouth breathing/dental health which thereby affects overall health, in addition to the reduced oxygen intake overall.

Masks do not protect us and wearing one all day can compromise our health due to pleurisy and breathing are own stagnant carbon dioxide. The miscommunication of the cdc and who have given us false numbers and mis information in the beginning we were told a mask does nothing why 3 months later do we have to wear a mask if we are not sick?

As a resident of Phoenix, it’s scary walking into my local grocery store and being surrounded by people not wearing masks or following social distancing protocol. Masks work in helping mitigate the spread, and this will help all of us to reopen the state and support our local businesses. If Phoenix does not pass mandatory masks in public spaces, I will be traveling a few extra miles to Scottsdale to do my grocery shopping, going forward. I support mandatory masks in public spaces.

We should not have to wear a mask. It should be a choice.

Requiring face masks in public will help us prevent an overload on our public health system. Masks have been scientifically shown to prevent the spread of Covid 19, and are an easy efficient way to slow the spread of a highly contagious illness. I support a city policy to require masks in public spaces.

Gov Ducey initially made a mistake not allowing mayors to protect the people in their city but I commend him for admitting to the mistake. Employees in Phx are scared at work and at stores as those around them are not practicing social distancing, not informing employees about positive cases in the office and not following recommendations on masks even after exposure. Please make the right choice and keep our communities safe!

Facemask should’ve been required in the beginning .We’ve all been exposed to it for six months and we know it. Herd immunity is what’s going to help in the fall. We don’t take these kind of measures when the wrong flu comes in for the strain that we gave a different vaccine for. We should not have to be subjected to the dangers caused by wearing a mask, question how about the numbers of the cases with the answers how many of them are Arizona residents vs people that fled here from other states?

Mandate the masks because people who decline to wear masks in public spaces are putting others at increased risk without their consent.
    their consent.

We should be thinking of how to avoid spreading Covid-19. We don’t have to choose between killing the economy or killing people. With simple face masks in addition to hand washing we can eliminate the virus, reopen the economy and save thousands of lives all at the same time.

There are numerous studies that have proven wearing masks does not stop the spread of Covid 19. Additionally, there have been documented cases of carbon dioxide poisoning attributed to the wearing of masks. Consequently, I believe it is both unnecessary and dangerous to mandate a policy requiring the wearing of masks.

With all difficult decisions, freedom must win out. I know what’s best for my health and safety. I did not elect any city council members to make decisions about my body for me. You undoubtedly will open yourself up to lawsuits. Coming out of an unprecedented quarantine, there was always the likelihood of people getting sick due to lowered immune systems. We must now face that reality.

Please mandate wearing face masks in public during the corona virus pandemic. It protects all of us if everyone is wearing a mask. Our numbers are outrageous, we must do everything possible to ensure the well being of our people.
    Thank You

Seems so sad to know that doing something so simple as wearing a mask while you are out in public is being balked at. If you don't want to wear a mask, stay home. If we had all done what was originally recommended and not jumped the gun, we wouldn't be having this problem. Use common sense and don't be so selfish....

I oppose wearing masks and under American Disabilities Act no one can be forced to disclose their medical conditions that prohibit them from wearing masks. We are free american citizens with the right to choose.

I support wearing masks and/or face shields as they have been recommended to stop the spread of COVID-19. This is an effective and cost efficient means of protecting our community and encouraging economic recovery.

I support mandatory masking in public spaces. It is necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19. Its the least we can do to protect those that are vulnerable and to ensure our health care system continues to have the resources they need to help the community. COVID-19 is avoidable and wearing a mask would assist us with getting back to a sense of normalcy sooner rather than later.
