I strongly oppose and would like you to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community is asking that you instead increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. I propose the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board.

Please reconsider the amounts being spent on Community Development, Community Enrichment, and Environmental Services. These aspects of the government can and should be increased monumentally!

Hello, Im a resident of central Phoenix and a concerned citizen. I oppose the increase in budget allocated to the police under the budget line item "Public Safety" - $944,680,555. Please divest funds away from this increasing bloated budget for the Phoenix police and allocate much needed money to Community Development, Community Enrichment and Environmental Services. I demand justice for our community. Funds must be used to enrich our community not destroy it. Defund the police.

This afternoon, Phoenix City Council will vote on the tentative budget.

In this moment the City should show leadership and fully fund ($3M) the Civilian Review Board pulling the needed funds from the police.

I strongly oppose this proposed budget as it currently stands. Studies consistently show that funding initiatives that stabilize communities (e.g. housing and youth development) prove to be more effective than policing. Please reconsider your current plan and allocate funding to support your citizens.

I oppose passage of this budget as written. I am outraged by recent police conduct related to the Governor's imposition of a curfew, but I am not surprised. Unfortunately, this city's police department has shown itself to be disinterested in serving and protecting residents for many years instead choosing time and time again to escalate situations that could easily be de-escalated, to use excessive force freely, and to murder residents at an alarming rate. Funds should be directed elsewhere.

Please reconsider the proposed public safety budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year. These funds would be better used for community development and enrichment.

Please stop funding the militarization of law enforcement and instead invest those dollars in our community. Please allocate $3 million to the Police Civilian Review Board. The Council should demonstrate a commitment to dismantling racism and a system that is resulting in harm and the killing of people of color.

I'm Thomas Santilli, a Phoenix resident. I am commenting to ask that you reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. These funds should be redirected to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Defund Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

I strongly oppose the funding allocated to the police department in the proposed budget and request that the funds be reallocated to community development and other public services.

I oppose contributing large amounts of taxpayer money to the law enforcement and instead propose the funds go to community development, public programs, and education

Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives. We need investments in mental health and trauma services, education, and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

I join with my fellow Phoenicians that are demanding the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.

I am in support of fully funding the Police Dept. Our citizens deserve the highest quality of protection, and the only way that can be achieved is to fund the department. Our citizens need the protection of the police department in an emergency, we MUST not cut their funding at this critical time!

I oppose the proposed Public Safety budget. The proposed Public Safety budget should be reduced by 25% with the excess being allocated to Community Development, Community Enrichment, and the Civilian Review Board respectively.

Take 25% of police funding away and reallocate it towards community programs.
Pass a new budget that supports police accountability.
End collaboration between PHXPD and ICE.

Defund the police. Introduce police accountability and independent oversight. Spend the funding on education and public health.

Please reconsider the funds allocated to our public safety department for 2020-2021. These funds should be diversified and dedicated to other areas such as our public education system(ranked 3rd worst in the United States). These funds can go to our schools.

I am opposing this because I strongly believe that more money should be allocated to the civilian oversight. PHX PD is one of the deadliest police forces in this country and can't be trusted. Civilian oversight gives the community a chance to consistently hold police officers accountable.
