Send money to community health and safety programs, not Phoenix PD. $745 million is excessive for an already well-funded city police force

I oppose the increase in budget towards "Public Safety". The proposed funds should be allocated to programs that heal and educate our community instead of more police equipment and budget. Please increase the proposed $24,760,741 and $26,837,104 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

I am in support of fully funding the Police Dept. Our citizens deserve the highest quality of protection, and the only way that can be achieved is to fund the department. Our citizens need the protection of the police department in an emergency, we MUST not cut their funding at this critical time!

I oppose item #44 because I believe there should be more money going towards citizens oversight. I do not think the Phoenix police deserves a increase in funding. I hope that with a fully-funded Office of Accountability and Transparency and Citizens Review Board so the city of Phoenix can begin to see real change to a broken system.

I am contacting you to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. Please reallocate these funds to programs that build up and strengthen the local community. Invest in things like education and adequate housing instead of the police.

$745 million is excessive spending on one of the nation's most violent police forces. Defund Phx PD

I support the continued funding for the Phoenix Police. These past few days are proof of how needed our police officers are. Reducing funding will not solve any issues but instead create a tired, overworked, and understaffed agency. We must support our officers as we rely on them in our must dire of circumstances. We need a department with the resources to serve and protect us, instead of be scrambling due to a lack of funding.

To best protect and serve communities we need to fund those communities not the police. I oppose the bill and would propose allocating more to community resources including education, mental health resources and housing

I’m in opposition of the current budget. Please reconsider allocating funds from Public safety to the civilian review board and office of accountability. There needs to be reform that both helps the people and holds our officers accountable. We need to rebuild the trust between the people and law enforcement.

Without the police there is anarchy! Garcia has his own agenda and hates cops. Not all cops are bad and more people may have been shot in 2018 but 85% of the people had weapons! Defunding the budget isn't going to help. People have commented about spending more $ for mental health services- who do u think transports the combative clients to get the services or to take them when they have court ordered treatment cuz they didn't take their meds. Officers deal with people in their worst moments.

On behalf of normal people, who do not have time to comment bomb the budget committee because they busy at their jobs doing actual work, compare the number of comments to the population of Phoenix, which is 1.66 million. Defund the police? Welfare for illegals? If you don’t stand up for normal people and the rule of law, then I’m leaving and I’m taking your source of significant tax revenue to a different county. And no, the police dont need a crazy, jobless Communist oversight board.

The city needs to defund the police and move that money into programs that actually support communities. Have police accountability and end collaboration between Phx pd and ice. Fund for undocumented families Covid relief fund.
