I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.

The Civilian Review Board and Office of Accountability and Transparency were an excellent first step to the persistent problem of police brutality. However, the pittance of a budget given to it is a joke and hamstrings it from having the positive effect it was intended. Fully fund the both and empower these offices.

I oppose, this money should be going to education and communities that need it more

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community kindly asks you that you redirect funds to programs that help, heal, and educate our community in many other ways. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and enrichment. Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.

Phoenix has one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Spending over $750 million when those funds would be better appropriated to serve the health & welfare of Phoenix citizens is wrong. Recent protests demonstrate that residents are demanding accountability from Phoenix PD and in order to do that the Police Civilian Board needs adequate funding. By June 17th, we propose that Phoenix police is defunded by 25% and those funds are used to keep us safe and healthy.

We do not need to be funding more police who are nothing but occupying armies in our neighborhoods. They do not make me feel safer nor do they protect and serve when they attack me in my own front yard. And I'm white so imagine how the targets - black and brown people - feel! Fund the community needs - housing, mental health, education, health - not abuse and "domination" on the streets - that we paid for by the way.

I am contacting you to reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. We desperately need funding in our public schools and community outreach programs, not in militarizing the phx PD.

How does the city look when it is the highest ranked, in the country for cases of police killing civilians? They are there to "protect & serve". Why fund and pay officers who aren't doing their job correctly. What message would that send? Please, do the right thing and DEFUND the PPD. They do not deserve the taxpayers hard earn money. We the people would like it to go to more useful fundings around the community. Let the people be heard.

I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget. Oversight is the LEAST we can ask for in a city that consistently ranks among the highest for police shootings. This number is less than 4% of the total budget proposed for the Phoenix PD. Isn’t oversight worth at least that much?

I am opposing because the money to fund the Phoenix PD should be reallocated to funding our community.

Our Community asks that you redirect funds from Phoenix Police Departments to programs that heal and educate our community. The city of Phoenix is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police caused civilian deaths. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various trainings have not and will not end police brutality.

I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community is asking that you instead increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment, and $3 mil to the Civilian Review Board for police accountability. We must prioritize healing and growth in our community over further militarization of our police force. Prioritize justice and dismantling oppression and police brutality.

    DEFUND THE PHX POLICE DEPT.
These resources need to be reallocated to our communities! AZ is ranked 49th in the country in education as of July 2019. Our schools need this money, our teachers need this money, our children need this money - NOT the PHX PD.

I support the Phoenix PD 100%. I know many of these men and women. They work hard at their jobs, often without consideration of their well-being. They routinely put the safety of our city and citizens ahead of their own. We are one of the largest cities in the country and yet our police department remains under-staffed and under-equipped. Now more than ever they need our support to continue to defend our great city from all threats. I fully support more funding for the police department.

Do not defund the police department. Better reform for bad cops, yes! But we need them. There are more good cops than bad!!!

I oppose the proposed tentative budget allocations for fiscal year 2020-2021. The public safety appropriation of $944,680,555 is excessive and should be reduced by a minimum of 10%. Those funds should be reallocated to fully fund both the Office of Accountability and Transparency and the Civilian Review Board, with remaining funds allocated to Community Development, Community Enrichment & Community Reinvestment.

Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Please consider allocating funds from Public safety to the civilian review board and office of accountability. There needs to be reform that both helps the people and holds our officers accountable. We need to rebuild the trust between the people and law enforcement.
