Defund the police by 25% and move that money into programs that create safe and healthy communities!
- Pass budget that prioritizes healthy communties, not police pay raises!
- Pass a budget that supports police accountability! Allocate $3 million to the OAT and CRB
- End collaboration between PHX PD and ICE!
- Show us your plan to fundraise $3 million for Undocumented Relief Fund
The people of Phoenix need sufficient oversight over the police that are here to protect and serve them. We've gone too long without accountability. It's absolutely unacceptable to allow our new oversight board go forward without sufficient funding.
Fund Health and Education, NOT Police. How can the city of Phoenix even justify an increase when they face a budget shortfall? Again, fund programs that help the community prosper, not ones that actively harm it like Police.
I oppose item #44 because I believe there should be more money going towards civilian oversight. I am demanding the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget on June 3rd.
I ask that you please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community needs investments in Mental Health,Trauma services, Education/After-School Care. Please allocate funds to programs and policies that will support and sustain the well being of our community.
Funding the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board would take roughly 0.3% of the city's public defense fund. If this board is not funded, it sends a clear message about who the city would rather protect; the people or the people in power. I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate at least $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.
I am a Phoenix citizen, a graduate of ASU's criminal justice program, and a former Phoenix PD employee. I OPPOSE the City of Phoenix giving Phoenix PD any further funding; instead, please apply those funds to a Civilian Review Board and/or social programs that will naturally help to reduce crime.
Members of the city council in Arizona . I am Nora Felix from mesa Arizona. The phoenix budget vote is tomorrow and as a phoenix taxpayer, I urge you to defund the phoenix police department now.
Phx pd is the most lethal in the nation and does not have any consequences and increasing its budget b during a pandemic is not the answer. We still don't have bodycam footage of Dion Johnsons while he slept in his car by phx pd.

Defund the phx pd and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community! Invest in healthcare (including mental health!), education, after-school programs, and all of the other underfunded programs.
Please reconsider the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Increase the proposed $24,760,741 and $26,837,104 budgets for community development and community enrichment.
Defund the Police PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.
I understand the need for police, I do not understand how we can continue to dump funds into a police department whose record for the number killings is nationally one of the worst. Until we start to truly hold this department accountable, by funding such things, as a Community Review Board, the current budget proposed is unconscionable. Change needs to start now.
I oppose this budget how it currently stands. We demand that funding proposed for the Phoenix Police Department is allocated toward the Citizens Review Board so the board can properly do the jobs they were appointed to do (hold officers accountable, make timely decisions, use funding for data/research, etc.).
Please reconsider and increase your proposed funding in support of an Office of Accountability and Transparency (OAT) and Civilian Review Board (CRB). Don't short change this urgently needed civil function. There have been way too many instances of late in which members of the Phoenix PD wrongfully harmed or killed a civilian. This kind of oversight is critically important!
Our community asks that you redirect funds from Phoenix Police to programs that heal/educate our community. Our city, Phoenix, is statistically ranked highest in the COUNTRY for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have PROVEN that diversifying training has not/will not end police brutality. Our city needs policing alternatives and investments in mental health services, education, affordable housing, healthcare, employment opportunity, and environmental programs.
I oppose the city's proposed budget allocation of $944,680,555 to "Public Safety". I'm doubtful as to how resourceful that would be for our communities. If our current police force has ranked themselves the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians adds more fuel. The funds should be redirected to "Community Development and Enrichment", where, in the long-run, the state will have reflected more thriving communities. Which is the point, is it not?
Reconsider the proposed budget increases and redirect them towards community enrichment and community development. Do not accept the budget raise, and decrease the budget allocated towards the most lethal police force in the country. Use that budget cut to remove cops who have community complaints against them or have multiple disciplinary action against them. There needs to be a higher accountability towards our police departments, while developing our community for the better.

Funding for the OAT and CRB as proposed is insufficient

I strongly oppose this budget proposal as it is an absurd amount. We need to end the militarization of our police NOW

The proposed budget underfunds the OAT and CRB. Please allocate $3 million towards this incredibly important oversight.
