Please do not defund our police department, we need them more than ever. Please think about us residents. Support Phoenix Police Department.

    BACK THE BLUE
The thought of cutting funding to Phx Police is absolutely ludicrous. Police are already underfunded and under paid significantly. After dealing with covid and now endless protests and riots, we should be increasing their budget to help them more. There is no need for ANOTHER oversite committee as there is currently a civil service Board filled with citizens already.

How does defunding an overworked, understaffed police department make any sense? Please don't cave to the extremists living amongst us for they have clearly not experienced what it's like to live in a centralized neighborhood. We need our police. Please support your citizens and your officers.

    DO NOT DEFUND PHOENIX PD

Please take the safety of your residents into consideration, especially those of us living in high crime areas. Defunding the police is like a slap in the face to us and to the police officers.

    SUPPORT PHOENIX PD.

Community welfare starts with community resources. What are the police protecting if their budget exceeds that of the community resources that could prevent police intervention altogether? Defund PHX PD.

The Phoenix Police should be fully funded and no funds allocated to AOC. The Phoenix Police on the whole are honest hardworking and fair. The majority should not suffer the negative consequences of a few. They go to work every day putting their lives on the line for the safety of the whole. They deserve our respect and support and commitment to defend their selfless safeguarding of society

I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community is asking that you instead increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment. We must prioritize healing and growth in our community over further militarization of our police force. It's time to focus on sustainable communities, justice, and dismantling systematic oppression and police brutality.

Cut funds to an already overworked, demoralized, and grossly understaffed police department? This proposal is like holding a lit match in one hand and a can of gas in the other. Is the kid pretending to be a councilman, the one who wears anti-police tee shirts during public meetings, going to come to my house when I'm the victim of a crime? Is the failed mayor going to investigate the rapes, homicides, and robberies? Ignore the robot re-posts. Support the police. Stop failing the city.

I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community is asking that you instead (1) fund the Office of Accountability and Transparency with 2.6 million dollars from the police budget, (2) stop transferring folks from Phoenix PD to ICE for deportation, (3) move 25% of the Phoenix PD budget into community services like affordable housing, education, and social service programs.

I support the annual budget. Do Not Defund the Police Department. Funding is needed for new hires, equipment and training. The Police Department are essential for the safety of our community.

This entire issue is being brought up over an incident which occurred in another State by a different Police Department. The most recent issue for the Phoenix Police was the improper excited utterance of an Officer that was dealing with an Uncooperative Burglary Suspect. This Department is extremely professional and transparent as it is. The spending of ou

    Do not defund the PPD.
Purpose of the PPD = protect the community against crime.
Responding to some police (a small percentage) committing crimes against the black community by defunding the whole department will lead to more crime in general against the whole community (including the black community).
This is self-defeating and therefore unwise.

Our communities depend on our officers to protect our citizens and property. The police department depends on their budget to be able to recruit and retain high quality officers, provide training and community outreach programs, and the proper equipment to keep our officers safe and accountable to the communities they serve. Defunding the police department will create an unsafe environment and adversely effect the residents and visitors to Phoenix.

Priority should be given to the irreplaceability of human lives over property through community development and education over militarization, police brutality, and racism. I strongly oppose the proposed $944,680,555 for our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community is asking that you instead increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.

I support the proposed budget! Phoenix PD is running on fumes already from the SEVEN year hiring freeze from previous budget cuts. Why would we take more away from them when we need to give them more support. This city is growing and the police department can’t keep up!

As a lifelong Phoenician, I understand and value the safety and security this city has always afforded me and my family. If funding to public safety is cut, I fear the negative long term social and economic impact we will see as a result. Please approve the budget as is and keep improving on our already highly respected and professional public safety program. Phoenix can continue to lead the way in positive community interactions while building community relations with appropriate funding.

The Phoenix police do not need a higher budget, the budget needs to be cut. The Phoenix police are responsible for killing more unarmed citizens than the LAPD and the NYPD. This money needs to be reallocated to services that will help low income communities. The Phoenix police need to be held accountable, and the first step is to take away their funding.
