Andre House and Community Bridges are critical to the efforts to protect the health and safety of people experiencing homelessness in Phoenix. Adding shelter beds will save lives. Let’s set an example for the nation by showing that Phoenix cares about everyone in our city.

I support the amendment as written. The HSC and their partners should be allowed this zoning change to support the homeless crisis in our community. This amendment would add a new low/no barrier shelter which is desperately needed. Large shelters are not the ideal but the alternatives under the current lack of government support is sleeping on the streets and death. The regional governments should also step up their support for people on the verge and people experiencing homelessness.

Strongly support. Providing shelter and services is the best way to get people off the street and on the path to permanent housing. Denying shelter exacerbates the issues that cause and sustain homelessness.

I fully support this petition. Every day we lose neighbors due to a lack of access to services and shelter. Andre House/Community Bridges are sources of hope, strength, and support for our community, and the City Council should support them and their mission. I support adding a low/no barrier shelter and more beds for our community. Do better, city officials.

Many of the unsheltered people I know are still on the street because the barriers to entry for many shelters are too high. Everyone deserves to sleep inside, in a bed.

The City of Phoenix needs to stop ignoring our homeless population. The need for low barrier housing is critical and necessary, specifically the 100 beds at Andre house that would offer more options to those who don't qualify for other shelters due to unique circumstances. The City of Phoenix cannot keep touting progress while allowing people to die, be more at risk for COVID-19, and pretending that the unsheltered are not also part of our community. We have the opportunity to do better.

Our community is fortunate to have the experts at the HSC for helping people experiencing homelessness. Allow them to safely serve more people.

The city cannot drag this out any longer. Over 500 unsheltered people died in thee past year while 500 a month were turned away due to lack of beds at the Human Services Campus. The city can alleviate some of this need right now by approving this expansion and providing these much needed beds to the community. People need sleep to do anything else. More beds will lead to a better quality of life for the entire community. Approve this expansion today.

I support shelter beds! It’s crazy to have the space and not use it, leaving people to sleep unnecessarily on the street!

The use of more shelter beds is greatly needed for safety and comfort of the large unsheltered community. The city should work vigorously to defend the security and dignity of its residents.

Business that opposes this measure primarily speak of the consequences of living Unsheltered as motivation. However, providing a safe shelter will alleviate the issues of concern. Litter, drug use, and human waste all decrease with a secure place to sleep and use the restroom. I strongly Support.

Shelter beds are critically important, no one should have to sleep in the streets. We need to do all we can to provide the shelter beds to our brothers and sisters in need. Thank you for your kind consideration.

I fully support this petition. 800 unhoused Phoenicians passed away in 2020 due to lack of access to services and shelter. We can't be the city that's courting California big tech w/o providing basic support to our citizens. Andre House/Community Bridges are vital elements of our community, and the City Council should support them and their mission.
