I'm a third generation Phoenician and Army Veteran and I oppose this budget because I believe we cannot afford to allocate a single cent more to PPD, little alone $25 million dollars. Our city, especially Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQAI+ folx and individuals with disabilities including mental health imbalances would be better served and protected much more safely if that money were to be allocated towards valley youth, community health/wellness programming, and behavioral health.

I strongly oppose this budget. The police funding is severely overinflated and unnecessary. Please allocate those funds to our community, such as OAT, education mental health programs, public housing, and Covid-19 relief funds.

I demand that the City Council vote NO on the 2020-21 budget. Phoenix needs more money in education and public housin, not an increase in police funding. Especially in the middle of a pandemic, only $242 million to housing, human services, and community development is NOT enough. The $745 million spent by the council on policing should be drastically reduced to allow for investment in services that actually better the community, not the police force.

I do not want the police to get extra money this year. There are so many other programs that can help communities better than police, such as education and other community programs. So before you vote today, answer this: Why is adding $25 million to a budget spent on stockpiles of ammunition, riot gear, and tear gas more important to you than the health of our children and the livelihood of our communities?

I OPPOSE THIS NONSENSE. Give the money to people that need it more. The police and city do not use that budget correctly and we can be giving it to people that need it way more then them.

I oppose this increase. The funds need to be re-distributed to the community, where they are actually direly needed. The city needs to think how to effectively support things to better the youth and community: such as, mental health organizations, social services and education.

The City Counsel should vote no on this budget. The proposed allocation for Phoenix PD is exorbitant and should be reduce by a minimum of 25% with the remaining funds reallocated to the Community Development and Community Enrichment line items.

I strongly oppose the 2020-2021 budget and ask Phoenix City Council to reduce the amount of money allocated to police funding. Please invest more money in education, mental health, affordable housing, art, transportation, and sustainability. The people have spoken. Please listen!

Our City is facing uncertain times economically due to the pandemic and City budget leaders have worked diligently to devise a plan to fund all departments to meet the needs of all citizens in our community. Yesterday's incident of a suspect attacking store customers with a knife and then threatening a police officer and others in a parking lot is a prime example of why I want and need highly trained and professional officers patrolling my neighborhood and CofP. PASS THE BUDGET

Please reallocate some of the police budget to fund community assistance like help for the mentally ill, homeless and low income and more funding to assist with social issues.

The City Council needs to vote NO on this budget. These funds would be much better used to support our underserved communities rather than continuing to contribute funds to a department that has proven ineffective and damaging. Many of the issues the police are called for do not require an armed officer, they require mental health professionals, housing assistance, and social workers. We need to spend our money where we can make it count, not contribute to the issue. Arizona deserves better.

Your citizens have been demanding that you redirect funding away from police and toward community services, but you are proposing that you increase their funding instead - even during a pandemic. Please listen to your residents and do the right thing. As a registered voter and Phoenix resident, I oppose this budget.

Please allocate funding to resources outside of just police. Police are responsible for far too much that is not in their expertise. Invest in social services, education, training, community services.

I oppose this budget. I oppose any increase to the police budget and in fact would support a decrease in the police budget to more proportionately fund community-first programs. I would redirect funds into community-based solutions that support mental health services, affordable housing, education, healthcare and trauma training/support which are either non-existent or severely underfunded.

I oppose this budget due to the unnecessary increase in funding for the Phoenix Police. These funds need to go toward programs and policies that will help build a healthy community. The police already have more than they need.

Phoenix police is unequipped to handle the social issues they are faced with. The proposed $744 million budget allocation for the department is absurd and would be much better on community-supportive initiatives like affordable housing, employment assistance, education, health care, and parks & rec. teachers should not have to purchase supplies for their own students while untrained officers are given military-grade weapons and equipment. Give the money to programs that will help the community.

We are in the throws of a public health emergency. We need all of the resources that we can muster for public health. Do not give the Phoenix PD a raise of $25 million. Invest that money in public health and housing to protect our community's most vulnerable from COVID-19.

I oppose the budget due to the increase in police funding for the country's 3rd deadliest police force. Civilian review is not enough. Reform is not enough. Defund the police and reinvest in community services.

I support the budget. It’s unbelievable that this is happening. We need our police department. They are understaffed, underpaid, with minimal resource as it stands. The budget process has been approved once. You’re job is to represent all citizens of Phoenix which you’re failing, you’re responsible for what happens to the safety of those citizens. Eliminating funding and putting us at risk is unacceptable. Leave the budget as approved

Defund the police and allocate that money towards services that help the community.
