$944,860,555 directed to public safety is an eggregious misappropriation of funding. Phoenix pd sets national records for shootings despite having a 5th the population of New York. We do not need to expand funds for a police force that has become unstable and further hinders at risk communities. I want to see my tax money going toward community development, community enrichment, transportation, and environmental services. We cannot afford to continue being last in education.
Civilian review board is not enough. “Required” body cameras is not enough. “Mandatory bias training” IS NOT ENOUGH. Defund. The. Police. Reallocate funds to our community, education, health care, aid for the homeless, public transportation. Invest in your community, not your police.
The increase in the Phoenix Police Department's budget — especially at a time when the public is asking the city to strategically defund the police — is appalling. Please remove funds from the police department's budget and reallocate them to programs that lift up our communities instead of beat them down (mental healthcare, education, affordable housing, youth programs, etc.)
I oppose this budget, we need to spend less on police and more on public services. Stop the militarization of police and the violence against our citizens.
As a PHX Native I HIGHLY OPPOSE this proposed budget. Phoenix needs community enrichment and continued and better services for our children, low income folks, elderly and the community as a whole! PPD has proven time again they are ill fit to do safe policing. The people of Phoenix deserve BETTER from our law enforcement and our elected officials. Do the right thing and LISTEN TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS and the community begging for more resources. WE ARE WATCHING.
I demand the city council vote NO on the proposed budget until the funding for the Phoenix Police Department is removed. In the last month they have displayed the same behavior that our community has seen for decades - excessive violence against citizens, refusing to accept accountability for their terrorism of minority communities, and lying to protect themselves rather than the people they are supposed to serve. Invest that money in public health to protect people from the COVID19 pandemic.
I strongly oppose the 2020-21 budget on June 17th and demand that funds be allocated to housing, human services and community development, NOT the police. How can you in the midst of a pandemic neglect the programs which actually serve our community, offering only $242 million? It is nowhere near sufficient. The $745 million the council is spending on police should instead be directed to housing, human services, and community development so as to best serve the community.
Please oppose this budget. Our communities are hurting and the last thing we need is to further militarize police. These funds can be redirected to mental health and community services. Please do what is right by the people!
As a Phoenix Resident, I ask the Phoenix City Council to move funds away from the police and towards community investment and programs. Instead of giving more dollars to a violent police force to militarize and continue harming our citizens, we need to be providing support to our schools, housing issues, and other urgent community needs. Please do not pass this budget that gives far too much money to the police and not enough to the people of Phoenix.

The budget process has been approved as voted on at the last meeting. It is unacceptable that radical anti-police groups continue to villainize our police officers who are putting their lives on the line every day to protect us how dare you take any of their comments seriously. You’re supposed to represent all citizens of Phoenix and are responsible for the safety of those citizens. Eliminating funding and putting us at risk is unacceptable and you can be replaced. Leave the budget as approved
I strongly oppose the 2020-21 budget increased funding for phx PD. Please allocate those fundings to programs that empower our community, such as, education, affordable housing, and mental health care. I urge city council to vote NO.
I oppose taking the money from Covid relief funding (which it is becoming CLEAR we need as our hospitals approach their capacity) INSTEAD of our overinflated policing budget to fund OAT. OAT is necessary for our city's health, so is funding for Covid relief
Phoenix PD is the deadliest police force in the country, they don’t deserve 745 million annually. Reinvesting that money into education, housing, human resources, and mental health, will actually make Phoenix a safer place to live. The police are only an obstacle to that.

I oppose the increase funding to the Phoenix police department .
Stop wasting our resources on police. We need programs that help-- not hurt.

I strongly support our police. Defunding them, especially during this time, would be very irresponsible.

Defund our police and reinvest in our education system which is on life support

We needed more funding for schools
