I strongly support mandatory face coverings in public spaces/businesses in Phoenix where social distancing and/or proper ventilation is either unlikely or impossible. This is critical to help stop the out-of-control spread of COVID-19 here. However, please make sure that this is NOT enforced by the police. I believe that Phoenix PD cannot be trusted to enforce this mandate fairly. Instead, please make sure business and public settings have masks to hand out, as well as hand washing stations.
For too long, government has come to be viewed as an entity to save us from ourselves and from each other. This is what it has come to. With freedom comes responsibility. Preserve our freedom to choose and let each of us live with the consequences of our choices.
Please protect our Phoenix communities by mandating mask use. We have proven as a population that we are not capable of being responsible on our own. This mandate will save lives and I strongly support it.
I strongly support requiring masks in public places throughout Phoenix to curb the spread of COVID-19. Wearing masks will protect the health of our loved ones, friends, neighbors and those with whom we do business. As each of us feels safe participating in local commerce, we will help restore our economy.
Currently there is no consensus among the major medical institutions about the effectiveness of wearing a mask if you are not sick or caring for someone who is so I oppose a general mandatory face covering policy but support a voluntary policy. Adding sanitation stations for washing hands through out the downtown would be beneficial.
I strongly support a mask mandate in the City of Phoenix for all indoor public spaces. Please also enforce this at Phoenix businesses! The time to expect businesses to "do the right thing" is over. Those that refuse to protect their own employees and our community should be fined and then closed down if they continue to put people at risk.
I live in District 6 and strongly support a mandatory mask law. If this is not implemented, we will not get a handle on this virus. I am singularly focused on my kids being able to return to their schools in person in August. That cannot happen if masks are optional and we don’t stop the spread.
I strongly support this measure. In addition to places of business or public places, please be sure to address areas where many people live in the same building such as condos and apartment complexes. If someone decides not to wear a face mask and comes onto an elevator there is not 6 feet for fellow residents to move away from them. Thank you.
As a family medicine physician who lives in Phoenix, I beg you to please help slow and decrease the spread of COVID19 by mandating this simple measure which has evidence to show it is helpful.
Please support our health care workers, vulnerable neighbors, and communities of color where covid19 has had a disproportionate impact. Please enforce a city wide mask wearing policy.
Please mandate masks and give the mandate strong enforcement provisions. This is a matter of public health and basic common sense. Too many people do not understand science, or care about anyone except themselves, and will not comply unless the mandate can be enforced. If Phoenix does not pass and enforce a mandate, I will be driving out of Phoenix to do all my family's shopping in the nearest city with a strong mask policy.
I strongly support this measure. The wearing of face coverings in the situations described in this measure are necessary to stem Covid-19. Doing so is a civic responsibility, not an option.
I strongly support a mask mandate! Masks are necessary to slow the spread of Covid 19 and we are at a critical point in our city and our state. I don't want to live in quarantine forever and this is not going to get better until people listen to the words of the medical and scientific communities and wear masks. People who aren't willing to wear them are a threat to our public safety.
It is past time we mandate mask-wearing for all...its been clearly shown to reduce transmission...an easy way for us to get back to 'normal' without shutting everything down again
Please take the health of your citizens, constituents, and neighbors into account and require wearing masks in public spaces throughout Phoenix to help slow our COVID-19 spike. It is disappointing, though not surprising, that is has come to this. Policies can be reversed, lost lives cannot be brought back.
It is too bad that these mask will not filter the unprecedented political bias that wishes to control the masses through government mandates. As a freedom loving individual I oppose this tyrannical imposition of policy. The public should have a choice to wear or not wear a mask. The science is ever changing so don't gag the public and force them to breathe their own CO2 just to satisfy a statistic that may or may not be accurate. Freedom first!
Arizona had over 2300 new cases from Tuesday to Wednesday alone. Our hospital admissions, ER visits, and ICU units are at a record high. This can not continue. Masks are a proven way to slow down this virus, but only if everybody is wearing them. The Governor has already encouraged the public to wear masks, and they have not listened. We need to make this a public policy. Please vote yes for a citywide face covering policy.

No mask
