COVID 19 is not a political issue. It is a pandemic. We need to all share in the responsibility to stop the spread, Do the right thing and make wearing a mask mandatory in public places throughout Phoenix.

This is a horrible idea that intrudes into people’s’ personal life unnecessarily. If some people don’t like other people not wearing masks, they can stop going out.

I support this. We need to take care of each other and stop this spread.

I am a physician and strongly oppose the use of masks for healthy individuals. The studies presented in favor of masks refer to droplets expelled by those coughing and sneezing, which healthy individuals do not. I am seeing an increase in patients who were previously healthy and now suffer form asthma, chronic headaches, lethargy and ear infections. If you are concerned about capacity, then certainly your concerns will be materialized with this mandation. Do not convert the healthy into sickness

NO!! Forcing people to wear face coverings is a breach of our rights. I teach high intensity workout classes, that I already need to yell. It’s hard enough to breathe without oxygen restriction.

I fully support mandating the use of masks in Phoenix. This is what we should have been doing from the beginning of this pandemic. We are far from flattening the curve and still have yet to see the peak of the first wave in Arizona. Detractors who are not taking this pandemic seriously because they think it only kills the old and immunocompromised are subscribing to modern day eugenic thinking. If the “freedom” to not wear a mask in public costs lives, then the cost of that freedom is too high.

Please, PLEASE mandate face coverings until this horrible virus begins to decline in numbers of affected hosts/patients.

Please do not mandate masks. I am highly against that. Most people do not wear them correctly. As a doctor myself, They do little to none to stop the virus the way they are being worn.

I support mandatory face masks because I hold others health and well being with higher regard than my own comfort level.

I support the mask mandate and hope city council takes action to help protect public health. It’s such a small step but will make a big difference in protecting ourselves and others from transmission, allowing us to flatten the curve we were thrust into by opening the state too early.

I highly opposed this. It is scientifically proven that mask have a little to no protection. Especially when people wear cloth made masks. Force people to do this and many will not comply and in properly use masks. Stand for freedom not tyranny

I am in full support of mandating the widespread use of masks in Phoenix. Asking people to think of others and participate in such a minor act as wearing a mask to protect everyone should be a given. Wearing a mask no more violates one’s rights then wearing clothing in public, wearing seatbelts, not stealing or not hurting others, etc. These are the things we do as civilized human beings. We should help each other so we can end this pandemic and move forward.

Personal responsibility is NOT working. We must mandate masks in public in Phoenix. 😷🦠🔬 #MaskUpAZ #PhoenixStrong #PhoenixCityCouncil #MayorGallego #SaveOurCommunity #SaveOurEconomy #ProtectTheVulnerable

As a registered nurse in one of the largest hospitals in Arizona, I urge you city council members to approve this policy. We have seen unprecedented admissions to our hospital due to COVID 19, and while it is a disease process we are still actively trying to learn about, one thing is clear: masks work at prevention. Nurses have continued to fight this crisis, and despite even receiving adequate PPE, we continue to show up EVERYDAY. The least we can do is mandate the public.

It goes without saying that we a should empathize with the most vulnerable to COVID-19 when our state and city has not done nearly enough to do so at this point. I support this motion, just as I support the life of my high-risk partner, just as I support those who have been told through others’ actions: “I don’t care if you die”.
